BEC’S GROOMING ROOM, BANNOCKBURN If people are making two-hour, 160km round trips to get their dog groomed, you must be doing something right. That’s exactly the case for Bec Fielden from Bec’s Grooming Room, who Addy readers have voted the No. 1 pet groomer in the region. The one-woman show has operated out of her Bannockburn home salon for three years and considers herself lucky to have fans as loyal as their precious pooches after 25 years in the pet care industry. Ms Fielden has such an outstanding reputation, she has some ‘bonkers’ clients making a two-hour round trip from Lorne to Bannockburn to get their dog groomed. But it was the No. 1 status among Addy readers that had her wondering if they were barking up wrong tree. I don’t even know how it all happened. I’ve ended up really lucky. Everyone has supported it and I’ve got heaps of awesome clients. It’s quite flattering, she said. I’m just out here doing my thing and its taken off like wildfire. After spending many years as a vet nurse and grooming on the side, Ms Fielden got stuck into the craft working at PETstock before planning on quietly going about her business at home. I‘ve got a couple of kids so I just thought I’d give it a go at home, see if we could get a couple of days a week and before I knew it I was working seven days a week, 10 hours a day. It was crazy. She said she simply had pride in her work and made sure to look after others’ fur-babies as she would her own. Luckily too, the passion for grooming has evolved with pet owners increasingly focusing on the welfare of their dogs, a fact she was grateful for. When I first started as a vet nurse, people just had dogs and shoved them outside and barely looked at them, they hardly vaccinated, they hardly did anything, Ms Fielden. We certainly didn’t put colognes and little bows on dogs when I started that’s for sure. Now she wouldn’t have it any other way and neither would her furry friends.

13.01.2022 Hi all, Life’s pretty tough at the moment. I have to take some time to support my family through a difficult situation. I will be closed for business until Monday the 25th of February. During these two weeks I will be unavailable to answer calls or messages, however on my return I will reply and book appointments ASAP. ...
