20.01.2022 It's that time of the week again - #TravelTipTuesday : See your GP or Travel Doctor for Vaccinations Getting vaccinations is something I can't stress enough to every single one of my customers. ... Some Governments have laws that can (and will) deny you entry into their country if you haven’t got the correct documentation to show you’ve had your vaccinations. So please, check with your GP or Travel Doctor to see if you require any vaccinations - they have the most up to date information. And NO, Google is not an actual Doctor! Photo by CDC on Unsplash

19.01.2022 Did you know?! The Great Barrier Reef is the largest single structure made by a living organism and can be seen from space. There are over 2,900 individual reefs and us North Queenslanders are lucky enough to call this ours.... The best vantage points to access the reef are Port Douglas, Cairns and Airlie Beach. Share your pics of the reef in the comments

18.01.2022 It's that time of the week again - #TravelTipTuesday : What to pack in your carry on Did you know you're allowed to take 2 pieces onboard with you? One is a personal item (think handbag, small backpack, laptop bag, etc), the other is your actual carry on luggage. But the amount you carry on cannot exceed 7kg in total (not per piece).... My personal item always has my essentials (phone, wallet, travel documents - including passport, sunglasses), as well as a magazine/book, headphones, lip balm, moisturiser and socks. In my carry on, I have the necessities if my luggage goes missing - a spare set of clothes, pjs, underwear, basic toiletries, makeup and a pair of thongs/flip flops (whatever you call them!). Packing my carry on as if my luggage went missing, was one of the best lessons I ever learnt, and I've actually had to rely on my carry on backups before. My luggage has never gone missing - but I did leave the key to unlock my suitcase at home (doh!), which meant I had to wait until the next day for maintenance to come with bolt-cutters so I could get into my luggage.

17.01.2022 I have some news: Due to the impact that COVID-19 is having on our everyday lives, and specifically the Travel Industry, I have been stood down from my role with Flight Centre, effective today. I have enjoyed working with all of my customers and can't wait to be able to assist everyone again once everything returns to normal. ... What this means for me now is that I have a whole lot more time on my hands, so be prepared to see some fun travel-related posts to distract us from all the doom and gloom that COVID-19 has bestowed upon us.

16.01.2022 This week's #feedbackfriday is all about INTREPID TRAVEL I travelled around Malaysia with Intrepid and loved every minute. The itinerary was perfect with just enough time in each place, and all the right inclusions. Our tour leader was awesome - he was local so really gave us an insight into the local culture that we couldn't have gotten elsewhere. ... A couple of facts about Intrepid: * Average age - 44; but they have options for children as young as 5, and there is no maximum age limit * Average group size - 12-16 * Different travel styles on their itineraries - the 3 main ones are: Basix; Original; and Comfort * The tour leaders are locals in the area * They are HUGE advocates for responsible travel - they're actually the world's largest travel B Corp (google B Corp - you'll be seriously impressed) I couldn't have asked for a better group to travel with. One of the guys on our trip described it best when he said: "You know how when you go out there is always that one loud table that is laughing and having a great time - well that's us". And it really was. Intrepid brings together like-minded travellers from all over the world and I can't recommend them enough. That's why I chose Intrepid when I was planning my group trip to Vietnam.

15.01.2022 It's that time of the week again - #traveltiptuesday : Give a copy of your itinerary to someone you trust When travelling, it’s always best to have a least one person back home that knows your itinerary and has a copy of it. ... Giving a family member or close friend a copy of your itinerary and/or hotel list, means someone can get in contact with you if there is an emergency. Also, from a safety perspective, someone will know where you are. If you make arrangements while travelling, email them to your family/friends so that they have those confirmations as well. And always keep in touch with people back home regularly. That way, if they don’t hear from you for a few days (or the next agreed upon time), they know where you were and where you should be. It’s just a small thing, but it really improves your safety.

15.01.2022 #Inspiration Latey, I've been spending a lot of time going back through photos and photobooks from my previous trips, and it's been giving me a serious case of FOMO. I stumbled across this pic and thought it was the perfect pic to post for some weekend inspiration. ... Who else has been hot air ballooning? Can you guess which country this pic was taken in?

10.01.2022 Welcome to #TravelTipTuesday : Grab a business card from the Hotel when you check in This isn’t just for souvenir purposes it’s much more practical.... When travelling in a country that speaks a foreign language, hotels normally have their name and address written in both English and the local language. This means you can show the card to a local that may not understand or speak very good English and they will be able to point you in the right direction. It’s also great for taxi drivers, so that there is no miscommunication.

07.01.2022 Welcome to this week's #traveltiptuesday! : Always have electronic copies of EVERYTHING This is good life tip not just a travel tip.... Scan your passport, drivers licence, Medicare card, itinerary, vouchers, EVERYTHING! I keep a copy of all of this backed up on the Cloud so I can access it whenever needed. I can hear you know this isn’t the safest place to keep it, you could get hacked. And you’re not wrong. But some Cloud providers have Personal Vaults now, which require a code (sent to your email or secondary email account) in order to access the information in there. If you feel like having it on a cloud is too risky, then email everything to yourself/someone you trust in separate emails. Keep it on a USB that you carry with you. Whatever method you prefer. But always have the electronic copies with you. Paper gets wet and can smudge. Documents can get stolen. Basically, things can happen that you can’t control. So having electronic back ups can make things so much easier to replace. This also applies to your photos have a backup while you’re travelling. If you take photos on your phone, back up to the cloud or post to facebook (you can have a private album if you’re not ready to share with everyone just yet). If you use a camera, find a way to back up those photos as well. Not everyone travels with a laptop, so it might not be possible to simply plug your camera in and backup.

04.01.2022 Let's talk CoronaVirus (COVID-19). There is a lot of misinformation out there at the moment, mainly thanks to the media hype surrounding this virus. As a travel agent I understand that you may be worried about COVID-19 and your upcoming trip. But at the moment - I'm not, and here's why. The media is providing a lot of coverage on this virus and how it's spreading around the world. It almost has an "end of the world" feel to it which is causing A LOT of panic amongst travell...Continue reading
