20.01.2022 It has come to our attention that many people have been losing their chickens to foxes lately. Please make sure your chook runs are fox proof. This is from the City of Armadale regarding culling.

18.01.2022 community helping each other out

17.01.2022 Very, very disappointed this morning. On my walk in Settlers Common saw masses of new broken glass, and someone had dumped some roof tiles. Might get some gloves and take a sack up there to pick some up (when its less hot).

07.01.2022 RABBITS I gather this has been a problem for some of you. I wrote to the Council and this is some information that was provided. RE: FERAL ANIMAL CONTROL BEDFORDALE... Thank you for providing feedback on the prevalence of rabbit populations in Bedfordale. Under the Biosecurity and Agricultural Management Act 2007 (BAM Act) rabbits are a C3 management declared pest which means they must be controlled by the land holder or land administrator (including local shire and government departments). Please find below a link to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s website which outlines the available methods of control with further links on the right hand side of the page. https://www.agric.wa.gov.au/baits-po/rabbit-control-options Please note 1080 permits are only available for properties larger than 10ha/25ac. Additional information that relates to the Calicivirus, K5, release undertaken in 2017 can be found on the PestSmart website: Boosting rabbit biocontrol: http://www.pestsmart.org.au/boosting-rabbit-biocontrol-rhd/ The national release was undertaken in March 2017 across Australia in conjunction with government departments in each state. The virus is now available for purchase by landholders however please be aware the preferred window of opportunity to undertake virus release is late Spring to early Summer and / or Autumn (e.g. March) when flies, that aid spread the virus, are most prevalent and there are few juvenile rabbits on the ground. In addition the City is currently investigating the feasibility of replicating previously undertaken viral releases across the Armadale Local Government Area in collaboration with key stakeholder groups. Members of the community are able to assist these investigations by recording rabbit occurrences using the Feral Scan App on a Smart Device. Ongoing investigations will also consider any future additional roles community members may be able to play in the management of rabbits beyond City-managed land. Should you have any concerns or queries in relation to the above please do not hesitate to contact the City’s Bushcare Supervisor via the above mentioned contact details. Hope this might be helpful

06.01.2022 Update on Springfield Reserve. Some of you may know that the Examiner took up the report of hooning on the Reserve and also contacted the Council. I also wrote to them and the reply was pretty prompt. This is what was said: "The City will organise installation of 2 small post and rails sections on the corner of Wallangarra Drive and Springfield Road to complement the existing barriers. Two local law signs will also be installed at strategic locations where unauthorised acce...ss is occurring. The City has had numerous enquiries regarding Springfield Reserve and will be considering further barrier upgrades in the new financial year. For any enquiries or to discuss this matter further please contact the Citys Bushcare Supervisor." So, good result. Keep reporting the these people and fingers crossed, it will stop.

03.01.2022 It would seem there is some concern about the proposed development seen here. The best policy is to make your feelings known to the Council. If people want the Residents Association to write to the Council then please let us know - here or by message and we will express our concern, if enough people respond. That is what were here for! If someone could share this on the Churchmans Brook Facebook page that would be great since I am not permitted to.
