25.01.2022 Today for the first time in months our Fire Danger Rating sign has changed. Today we have a high rating . What does it mean? If a fire starts, it can most likely be controlled in these conditions and homes can provide safety.... Be aware of how fires can start and minimise the risk. Controlled burning off may occur in these conditions if it is safe - check to see if permits apply. If you have been cleaning up around home and would like to burn off the rubbish make sure you register your burn on 1800 668 511. Keep an eye out for notice of the fire danger period commencement in papers and on the news. For more information go to www.cfa.vic.gov.au
22.01.2022 We have a few haunted house tips to have your property looking spootakular and most importantly safe this bushfire season... Remove flammable items from nea...r your home like coffins, crucifixes and broomsticks. Clear away overhanging branches and cobwebs. Keep your lawn mowed but watch out for zombies in the long grass. Seal up your windows to keep away the bats. Trim back shrubs, you never know what gremlins could be hiding in there! Never leave your jack-o-lantern candle unattended. And remember to always check restrictions before lighting your cauldron this summer.
18.01.2022 We know it's hard at the moment with us not being able to come out and visit and give timely advice on preparing your property. We now have a dedicated channel if you require advice on preparations for this Summer. Email: [email protected] or phone the CFA Plan and Prepare Team on 0437 247 199 for further information.
14.01.2022 Have you cleaned up your garden beds. Lots of leaf litter and small twigs and sticks are easily lit by burning embers. Remove as much as you can and pop it in your compost - what a great way to clean up and also make some great food for the garden once it's broken down.
12.01.2022 This week is Fire Action Week. This is a great time to have a think about what you need to do around your home to prepare for Summer. Have you had a look at your Fire Plan and reviewed it? A lot can change in 12 months. Keep an eye out for reminders and suggestions how to get ready for this Summer
10.01.2022 Here is something you may not have thought of - Gardens and plants in front of windows. Ensure you clear plants away from your windows as these can catch fire and then break your windows allowing fire to enter your home. For more information go to - www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare
10.01.2022 Today might be the last day of Fire Action Week, but don't forget to keep thinking about what you can do to make your home and property prepared this Summer
07.01.2022 The weekend is here and you have been clearing up around your property and have a great pile to burn. Don't forget to register your burn on 1800 668 511 and follow the simple tips below. Also remeber to check with your local Shire on their rules and regulations for burning. #indigoshire #alpineshire #towongshire
07.01.2022 The weather is clearing up and this means with all the rain we have had the grass is growing like crazy Make sure part of your plan for this Summer is to keep your grass short around your home (under 10cm) for at least 10 metres around your buildings
07.01.2022 We all love having shade on our home, especially during Summer - It saves money and keeps the house cool. If you have any trees overhanging your house please don't forget to give them a prune away from the roof line. The benefit will also be less debris in your gutters. For more information go to www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare
02.01.2022 Another job to prepare your property for Summer is by removing dead twigs, branches and leaves away from your house. Prune overhanging branches and ensure they aren't touching your house. Make sure you clean out your gutters of all leaf litter and twigs ensuring there is nothing there which could catch hold if an ember lands on it.
