24.01.2022 WEDNESDAY GOLF REPORT 28/10 Whilst some of the Beechworth Ladies headed off to play in Yackandandah’s Annual Bowl event seven players plus a visitor from out of town played in the weekly stableford competition and in our Covid Cup team event. Amidst the masks, sanitizing and social distancing there were some good scores on the day. Rod Shaw had a great round, scoring 37 points so won the Stableford Competition on the day despite putting one of his drives into a bird’s nest hi...gh up in the tree on the 17th tee. Ellie Hirst was Runner Up with 27 points. Brian Cropley got onto the 10th sandscrape to win a Nearest the Pin. The teams event was played with much interest. The winning team on the day was Rod Shaw, Doyna Collins ,Gail Smith and our visitor Helen Clancy with a team score of 27pts. Thanks to everyone involved. There were also six ladies who went to Yack for their Bowl. Glenda Marshall was runner up in the A Grade with 91/69, Jan Lang won the pre vets event with 39 points and Debbie Tully also had 38 points. Well done to all. Remember to all that the Mixed Foursomes Championships is on this Sunday. Normal 12:30 for 1pm hit off. If you don't have a partner there will still be an event for those not in the mixed. But it would be great if those that aren't playing in the event could go and Support Yackandandah's mens tournament as they were well represented at our tournament last week. It is a 10 for 10:30 start and you can just turn up on the day.

24.01.2022 About 14 golfers turned up for Twilight on the back 9 tonight, but five woosed out and only 9 played. Umbrellas were barely needed at it was only light drizzle most the way around. Steve Piddington managed to find the right wash outs and canals in the sands after the downpour the other day to win with 23 points (19+4), runner up was Daryl Rowe with 22 (21+1). Ryan Hayes won nearest the pin on the 10th and also claimed the nearest chip on the 14th.... No one knocked it on the 13th for two so that will jackpot for two weeks time. This Sunday is a Stableford event with the normal hit off time of 12:30 for 1pm. You can always play at another time if you organise a playing group and let the captain know.

18.01.2022 There's a new leader in the Hole in One competition. For those that don't know our 5 amazing Par 3 sponsors, Tanswells Commercial Hotel (3rd), Hibernian Hotel (5th), CC's Quality Meats (7th), Granite Cafè (10th) and Alpine Indigo Accounting (17th). Have put up $300 each along with the Golf Club matching that amount, so a total of $1800 for the first person to have a Hole in One on any Par 3 in competitions over the daylight savings period. If no one is lucky enough to get a... hole in one, then each of the above sponsors and the Golf Club will put up $50 each so a total of $300 for the nearest the pin on any of the par 3's. The cost is $1 for members and $2 for non members to be eligible, with all money to be donated to the Royal Children's Hospital on Good Friday. The Current leader is Paul O'loughlin who knocked it to 38cm on the 17th last Thursday during twilight golf. Well done Fanny. So get out there and try knock him off!

17.01.2022 The final of the medal of medals was played after being postponed a fortnight ago. Windy and sometimes rainy conditions met the 10 players. There weren't any other good scores so we won't name and shame. ... Only one nearest the pin went off and that went to Jamie Dolny on the 7th. In the Medal of Medals for 2020 Stuart McIntosh was the run away winner. Winning by 9 shots from the nearest competitor with his 69 nett.

02.01.2022 There were 23 players for Twilight on the back nine last Thursday. And it is proving that having a lot of pluses gets you to the top. With Dylan Pool winning with 26 points (21+5), runner up was Josh Carr with 24 (20+4). Ball winners were Warwick Deuis 24, Brian Pritchard 24, Col Carmody 24, Andy Croome 23, Tyson Carey 22, Dave Atkins 22 and Graeme Cordy 22. There was no raffle on Thursday as we had a hamper and butchers voucher to be drawn on Sunday, but that went out the window after Fridays announcement. Hopefully that can be drawn this Thursday at Twilight, but we aren't holding our breath. With any luck the third round of the Summer cup that was to be played today can be played next Sunday and the fourth round will be a date to be decided. Might end up being the Winter Cup by the time it is finished. Rest up, mask up and get back out to the golf club in droves when we are allowed to.
