24.01.2022 MUSCLE VERSUS FAT One does not often realise that when eating beef we are actually eating muscle. Different cattle breeds have various levels of muscling with European breeds like Belgium Blue, Blonde d'Aquitaine and Limousin are known for their heavy muscling and low fat levels. Alternatively British cattle breeds like Angus, Hereford and Murray Grey are known to carry less muscle and produce more fat. When finishing cattle prior to processing into beef, many British breed... cattle will become over fat unless they are administered a growth hormone, however the more muscled cattle breeds naturally finish without hormones. Often cross breeding is used in the cattle industry to produce a faster growing calf due to hybrid vigour, providing more muscle and an adequate amount of fat. At Beef Natural we breed with as minimum 50% Blonde genetics. Blondes are highly muscled and also produce a finer textured beef providing a premium eating experience. The added advantage to our company is they also yield a large amount of beef compared to most cattle breeds. No hormones required :) Which animal has the least amount of muscle the cream or black coloured bull?

18.01.2022 HOW TO COOK A MEAN STEAK!!! We all love a juicy steak which is tender and moist. At Beef Natural do all we can to ensure the steaks we sell are tender and juicy. But you need to do the last bit ... cook it well. Here is how to do it: 1. Ensure the BBQ is is smoking hot 2. Prepare your steak with salt, pepper or favourite spices... 3. Rub or spray steak with olive oil 4. Place on BBQ, flip steak as soon as you see the moisture appearing on top surface 5. Watch steak closely as moisture is now on bottom and will rise to the top. Flip steak again as soon as you see any moisture. 6. Repeat these steps until cooked to liking, medium rare is my favourite. The aim is to trap the moisture in the steak as this makes it juicy. The old method of flipping only once will mean all moisture sits on the top of the steak and what happens when you turn the steak... you lose all that beautiful moisture and you get a dry steak . We supply quality, you cook well and everybody is happy See more

18.01.2022 Relaxed Cattle - We are passionate about cattle welfare. Farming with relaxed cattle commences with genetics, breeding cattle from good natured bulls and cows to produce genetically quiet calves. Just like humans, a relaxed father and mother are very likely to have kids who are 'chilled'. We therefore select bulls for breeding who have good temperament scores. On the female side we only mate our quiet cows. Any cows showing excessive nervousness are removed from our breeding herd. Result - relaxed cattle leading to softer beef and a better eating experience!

14.01.2022 Low Birth Weights - The importance of breeding with bulls and cows who have low birth weights is very important when beef farming. With 28 calves now born on our farm this season, we have had a number of issues with our newly purchased heifers calving. Many of their calves are simply too large and they need assistance with calving. We had them under high surveillance and were using all our many years of cattle breeding experience to prevent still born calves or discomfort for the mothers. Thankfully all have now finished calving. We are currently looking at purchasing a low birth weight Murray Grey bull to be used for mating our first calvers for the 2019 calving season

09.01.2022 Young ryegrass eagerly growing

08.01.2022 After a much delayed break of the season, our farm was blessed with 60mm of rain last week. We have reseeded much of the pastures and the grass growth is just amazing. The current follow up rains are great too! It is good to stop and think just how much mankind relies on the rains to supply our daily food requirements. Hay prices have risen rapidly with low supply and high demand

07.01.2022 Sometimes heifers and cows need help with calving. This little guy was nearly dead when I delivered him on Friday, swollen head and tongue. Feed him colostrum via a stomach tube for 2 days. Now walking and drinking from his first time mum (heifer). Grand son just loves animals and the farm

06.01.2022 Long Tongue? Got a shot of this heifer licking her lips the other evening. Can you believe it?

05.01.2022 Hormones are widely used when finishing cattle for beef production. Hormones are used by farmers to increase growth rate in their cattle, increase production of muscle whilst reducing fat, and increasing feed efficiency. All of the above can be achieved by breeding cattle which naturally have muscle, grow rapidly and good feed efficiency. That's why we use Blonde d'Aquitaine genetics when breeding beef for Beef Natural. The result..... healthier eating, better tasting beef. J...ust ask our clients about the eating quality of our beef. NO HORMONES USED BY BEEF NATURAL

05.01.2022 Our beef is quality controlled from paddock to plate. We breed the cows to Blonde bulls here in Mardella, calve them down, wean them at 9 months and grow them out till about 2 years of age. When finished to our standard we truck out on a Monday and clients get beef on a Thursday. It does not get fresher than that. Only our steaks and roasts are aged for added tenderness

02.01.2022 Thank you Andrew Hastie for taking the time out to support local farming business. Nice to see such genuine interest by a politician out side an election climate.

02.01.2022 Tender beef which is naturally raised beef can only be consistently produced when the whole process is controlled from paddock to plate. That is what we do at Beef Natural. Breed the cattle, feed the cattle, truck the cattle in a low stress manner, aged the steaks and roasts and process the sausages and burgers using only natural ingredients. Result? Great taste and totally healthy Visit our online shop to order www.beefnatural.com.au
