12.01.2022 So these bees thought a wine barrel would make a good home. The owners preferred that the barrel not be cut. The barrel also contained a few inches of water, so... I was not able to shake or roll it. After a fair bit of smoke puffed in the bees started pouring out. Saw the queen climbing the barrel, and she obligingly climbed onto my finger. Placed her gently in the entrance to the nuc box, and she went in. BUT, she promptly turned around a flew off. Stood back waiting to see where the bees would congregate. A couple of minutes later noticed tbe bees starting to march into the nuc. Seems she changed her mind and decided it was ok after all. 40 minutes and a bit more smoke later, all the bees safely tucked away and heading to BBSanctuary. Thanks to Melissa and Glen for giving the bees a chance to be relocated. See more
