22.01.2022 Malt house. This time of year we learn new skills, methods. With the long easy Summer days, the holiday season scattering our work commitments our ambitions developed during the busy end of the previous year ready to burst, the situation is upon our kitchen table! It's finally happened, we're malting barley. Almost 3 years ago we started this project committing to make beer from barley. Reducing packaging to one big bag, switching to organic grain & learning a new skill. I've... moved the bag countless times & finally decided to lighten the load by making a few cold ones. It's been a funny process, the day I started I was so time poor in only read (incorrectly) the first 10hrs of the program. Luckily we had this supersized #beekeep left from an old project to lay them out on for day 3! Here the grains have sprouted, with the chit or rootlet poking out the end. For the next few days the acrospire (first leaf) is growing the length of the grain, just before it pokes out we stop the process by drying. Then beer #beekeep #beeswaxwraps #beer #maltshop

19.01.2022 Who else winds up with leftover coriander? I've sure seen some sad looking bunches in my time.. Forgotten & slimy at the back of the fridge. Its worth taking a little more care when storing these smelly delicates by creating a space for them to breathe. Refrigerate picked Basil in a jar, wrap coriander, parsley, & all your garden trimmings into a bowl or beeswax bouquet in the fridge, or opt to dry for later. Alternatively, collect them up & roll into falafels, fritters or p...ie Like.. Yotam Ottolenghis Iranian Herb Fritters. 06.01.2022 The last of our stores whilst bun was still in the oven. Baked at 37weeks pregnant as Grandma Marsie prepared us for the unknown.. we baked & stewed & sipped tea as we shared positive birth stories & discussed cloth nappy regimes. Little did we know, we'd be meeting the little sprout one week later! Good thing we filled that freezer. Home grown pumpkin & rosemary bread, baked & frozen in beekeep for the early months #beekeep #beeswaxwraps #homemade #bread #pregnancy

05.01.2022 I don't think we've properly introduced our little bear to the Visiting Wildflowers community.. This is Jarrah, all wrapped up, just the way we like to roll. 3 months on the outside now, & he is simply devine! He loves to surprise us everyday with new tricks & little clothes that fit him yesterday.. but not today! His smiles kill me, & his soft little feet. He loves to go swimming in the warm bath, ever amused by the costume changes to follow. Dads songs are a real hit, & so is story time before the night is out. He's just like an old friend really, in precious miniature version! Perched on the heart like a koala to his tree is his favourite place to always be.

04.01.2022 A wise woman once said to two snobby Melbournites who were missing their artisan doughs.. "Bread. It's fkn bread. Ya mix the flour, the water, the culture, ya put it in the oven, & it's fkn bread" - Sunshine ... We been bakin it ever since. #beekeep #beeswaxwraps #bread #northwestcoast #tasmania #culture

Preserving half avo/onion/mango/whatever.. Ends of your cucumber, ginger, zucchini, aubergine etc. ... Platters. Parmesans. Pockets. Lunch packs. Fresh cut snacks. Unfinished baby moosh. 03.01.2022 Bread. One of our most wasted perishables contributing to the estimated 5 million tonnes of food wasted in Australia each year. To get the best life out of your loaf, avoid leaving it wrapped in paper which will dry it out, & plastic which will sweat. Keep it stored at room temp wrapped in beeswax cloth which will allow your beautiful baked goods to breathe, keeping them lovely for longer. If you simply can't munch through it, freeze it for later, or extend its shelf life in ...the form of breadcrumbs, croutons, or pud #beekeep #beeswaxfoodwraps #bread #foodwaste #australia #becreative @ Tasmania

02.01.2022 The beekeep market table goes online 20% off launching pad www.beekeep.com.au Browse our eclectic trimmings of Beeswax cloth, now available by the square or by the meter, for your creative direction.... Find remnants & roll ends from 6 years of rummaging & recovering cotton with a history, limited to the width listed, & length available. Watch as we continue to update & grow this online marketplace of various prints & styles! Pictured, is the last remaining of this beautiful vintage cloth we found in a big old shed still wound around the bolt. It was so weathered & brittle on the outside, hand painted, perhaps from the 1950's. It's story had been lost & made up again by the eccentric fellow whom we traded, who told the tale of a ship in which he discovered many treasures. I remember finding it, & falling in love with its mystery, & the romance of preserving it in our Brunswick beeswax, to preserve all the yummy things in so many lovely kitchens. I rode home to share my excitement & swap into the car which would be the first time I drove a manual on my own, to go and pick it up! It was a joy to wax, to share, & still my piece to wrap & store our edibles in We are excited to launch this addition to our shop, & offering 20% off all meterage until the end of November. #beekeep #beeswaxwraps #zerowaste #preloved #treasure #marketplace #christmas #sale
