23.01.2022 You'd be forgiven for thinking these are trees. In reality, they're (only) kale. Kale is a superfood and grows well in Brisbane, give it a go!

23.01.2022 Here’s Helene having harvested her asparagus. She found one super sized spear. That’s not asparagus - this is asparagus!

21.01.2022 Congratulations to lovely Daisy who planted, tended and today harvested this gorgeous purple cauliflower at the farm! Photo credit: Gillian @gssoe1

16.01.2022 Our next jam and preserves farmgate sale is on this Saturday 31 October from 9am to 12noon! We have lots of different chutneys and pickles, so why not be adventurous and try something new! Kasundi is a versatile Indian Tomato pickle or sauce. Mix it with coconut milk or yoghurt, add chicken and bake. Serve it with barbecued meats, on poached eggs, with rice, or as a marinade. Beetroot Orange Chutney is great with cold meats and cheese. Or put a heaped spoonful on top o...f baked potatoes, and add some sour cream. Brinjal Pickle is a spicy eggplant chutney that is perfect with curries. Also goes well with cheese. Other chutneys and relishes available this weekend include: Tomato Relish Spicy Eggplant and Capsicum Chutney Sweet Mustard Pickle Tangy Green Tomato Chutney Green Pawpaw and Green Tomato Chutney Preserved Lemons And don’t forget the jams and marmalades: Grapefruit and Orange Marmalade Mandarin Marmalade Mixed Citrus Jam Mulberry and Apple Jam Green Tomato and Lemon Marmalade Strawberry and Apple Jam We have a small quantity of Preserved Lemons and Sauerkraut available to early birds, at $8.00 per jar. All other preserves are $5 each for a 250ml jar, with payment by cash or EFT. If you have bought preserves from us before, you can bring back your jars and fabric. They will be reused. Beelarong member Sara Breckenridge, author of the new cook book Grow Cook Feast, will also be at the farm on Saturday morning. Her book will be available for purchase, either cash or credit card. https://www.growcookfeast.com.au//grow-cook-feast-seasons- Pic by Sheeba Taylor Photography

16.01.2022 In the coming weeks Sara Breckenridge will be sharing with us some great recipes to help us use excess produce and reduce waste. This week we have a kale recipe to enjoy. "There is lots of kale growing around the farm at the moment. I have been enjoying it by lightly sauteing chopped spring onions, leeks and garlic in a little olive oil. Toss in shredded kale leaves and stir fry until just cooked. Drizzle over some fresh squeezed lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil.... A favourite Saturday night feast is to lay the cooked kale on a large platter, top with rustically cut roast chicken; scatter goat’s cheese, toasted walnut pieces and pomegranate seeds over the top and place in the middle of the table. I can almost guarantee there will be no leftovers!" For more fine recipes & garden tips visit www.growcookfeast.com.au or chat to the lovely Jean at the farm to buy your copy of Sara B’s book. See more

15.01.2022 Don't forget to check out the Bulimba Community Market tomorrow from 9am to 2pm: https://fb.me/e/9UcHzA2vx Visit Sara Breckenridge's stall and grab a copy of her cookbook Grow Cook Feast. Our jams and preserves will also be available at her stall.
