14.01.2022 Watch the bee with the yellow pollen pants! This is how bees offload pollen. She uses a little spur on her middle legs to spear to pollen basket and knock it off into the cell. #beesarecool

11.01.2022 So my plans for today were not going according to plan, my hive Brooke decided to swarm!!!! Unfortunately didn't land in my yard but my next door neighbours... 4metres up a tree... yes well they didn't want to make it easy for me ..I persisted on my own for quite some time them called in some family help..... Im hoping the retrieval has been successfull still waiting and watching the bees to see if they go back up in the tree.... Climbing 4 metres up a ladder hanging on to a tree with one arm and trying to catch the swarm was no easy feat.... thanks to the fam bam the help was invaluable capturing this swarm..... Watch this space.....

"The depth of worker cells is usually 12.5 mm, the diameter 6 mm. The depth of drone cells 16 to 17 mm, the diameter 8.75 mm. The queen cell is 3 cm long, has an inside diameter of 8 mm, the walls are 3 mm thick..." 02.01.2022 Our beekeepers are doing their best to supply us with the good quality honey we know and love - but it's tough. The industry has struggled through drought, fire, floods and now Covid-19.
