This is a message from the Australian Government Department of Health . Shingles is a painful rash caused by reactivation of the same virus that causes chickenpox. This can be serious, lead to long-term nerve pain and is more common among older adults.... Other complications can include: serious eye problems hearing problems swelling of the brain and pneumonia. The good news is that the shingles vaccine is free for people aged 70, and the catch-up program has been extended for people aged between 71-79 years until 31 October 2023.
