Certain diets, dental treats and brushing can all help with this, or alternatively, you can book in and our vets can can take a look!

We would like to thank you all for your continued patience and understanding with the COVID-19 regulations, and for your continued support throughout these tough times. 10.01.2022 Bramble is one of favorite little patients here at Beenleigh Vet Hospital! This cheeky monkey got into some garlic powder and has had to visit us regularly for blood tests to monitor his levels for anemia. Luckily his levels stayed pretty normal and only needed a sleepover on intravenous fluids to help flush his system. Bramble was the bravest boy and had all of the nurses gushing over him for cuddles. He is all clear now, and living his best puppy life with his loving fur-p...arents! Garlic ingestion in dogs can cause anemia and damage to the red blood cells. Symptoms to watch for would be vomiting and diarrhea, breathlessness, pale/yellow/muddy gums, rapid breathing and elevated heart rate. If you are concerned about garlic ingestion in any way, please give us a call.

05.01.2022 Meet Ghost! Ghost is one of our regular visitors here at the clinic as he has been on ongoing treatment for heartworm. The treatment is quite involved but Ghost has taken it all in his stride. He is such a chilled and brave boy when he was with us for the day, and he would bring his lion toy along for moral support. Ghost is continuing treatment at home and has also lost over 6kg the past few months, which is improving his health and well-being. His owners, Nerissa and Mark ...are doing such a wonderful job with him, and we always look forward to our visits (and cuddles) from Ghosty! Just a reminder to keep your pets up to date with heartworm treatment every month, or call the clinic to arrange a heartworm test to recommence or start treatment. (NB, heartworm treatment must be given EVERY MONTH or it should not be given without a test. It can endanger your dog)

01.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Veterinary care has been deemed an essential service, and we are still here to care for your animals at the present time. This does however mean, that we have protocols in place to keep yourself, your families and our staff safe, all whilst providing the best care for your pets. ... These protocols include: Call the clinic from the car-park to let us know you have arrived, and we will advise the next steps. Please limit your visits to ONE owner. If you are unwell in any way, please organise someone else to bring your pet, or we can arrange to take your pet from the car and conduct the consult, owner free. Call ahead for food, medications and worming/flea/tick control, and pay over the phone where possible. That way, we can have it ready for you to collect, as quickly as possible. Payment by eftpos is preferred. Please use the hand sanitiser provided in consult rooms and reception. Adhere to social distancing regulations (1.5m). Walks-in may be turned away, unless its an emergency. We appreciate your co-operation and understanding in these uncertain times, and will update you on any further changes that may occur. We want to thank all of our amazing clients that have been working with us already, with these protocols in place. Please do not hesitate to contact us on 3287 2599, if you have any questions at all. We are here for you and your pets
