24.01.2022 A volunteer is needed Friday 12th to Monday 15th of March. We will be heading to Blue Mountains National Park to look for reptiles and small mammals. We will be working in the early morning, the heat of the day, and late at night, so someone with a positive attitude is essential. No prior knowledge is required but familiarity with Sydney reptiles would be beneficial.

20.01.2022 Hi all, I'm looking for a volunteer to assist me with my data collection in Bangadilly National Park for my PhD on the effects of climate change on fire prone eucalypt communities. Please let me know the town/suburb in which you live in your email. The trip will be around the end of March/start of April for up to a week. We'll be assessing fire severity, taking measurements of tree diameters and bark thicknesses, recording the occurrence of fire scars and collecting bark core... samples to take back to the lab. You must be enthusiastic and willing to work long hours in dense bushland. A reasonable level of fitness is required. You will need to hold a first aid certificate. Food, transport and accommodation will be provided. Please email me at [email protected] if you meet these criteria or have any questions. Let me know if you have had any four-wheel drive training and whether you have any plant ID skills. These are not required but would be useful extras. There will be many more trips in the future of a similar nature, so please do still get in contact with me even if you can't make it this time around. Thank you, Harriet

04.01.2022 EDIT: June trip filled. Still taking EOI for late July - mid August trip. Thank you for all the shares and support, it's blown me away and I'm grateful to be pa...rt of such an amazing community! Volunteer wanted! I’m taking expressions of interest for a volunteer to come out into the field around UNSW Hay Field Station with me for a month to test predation rates on the gorgeous, but sadly critically-endangered bird, the Plains-wanderer (using artificial nests). Fieldwork will be long and cold, with a lot of walking but otherwise not too strenuous. Travel from Sydney, accommodation and food will be provided. When: late July-mid August (exact dates TBD) Where: centred around South Hay. Why: meaningful research, best isolation spot, cute birds, you have nothing else on. I’m looking at any interest for now, however currently only existing UNSW volunteers are allowed under restrictions at the moment. Preference will go to someone who can stay for the whole time. Message for details. [email protected]

01.01.2022 Hi All, The UNSW Beach Safety Research Group is looking for volunteers to help with doing surveys of beachgoers at Dreamtime Beach on the Northern NSW Coast (near the QLD) border between April 3 and 17. Yes, that's Easter so I'm thinking this would be good for any student without classes (post-grads!). You can come up for however long you like during that time, bring a friend! All accommodation (Tweed Holiday Parks Fingal Head), food and transport costs covered. You'll have plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the area....geez it's nice there. If you're interested or would like some more information, please contact Professor Rob Brander at [email protected] Read more about the study at https://www.beachsafetyresearch.com/unpatrolled-beach-users
