20.01.2022 Real honey crystallises over time. It doesn’t mean you can’t eat it or it has gone bad, it is a natural process due to the high sugar content. Colder temperatures can speed up this process, but different nectar sources can also influence this. By placing your jar in hot(not boiling) water you can slowly re-liquify your honey. Although tempting, overheating it in a microwave can destroy the vitamins and nutrients found in the natural product. #beevanahoney #beekeeping #honey #buylocal

He relocated his bees from Government House Sydney and they are now thriving in the ...Canberra conditions (despite the smoke, hail and heat they’ve endured so far in 2020!). The Governor-General is also pleased to serve as Patron of Wheen Bee Foundation, a not for profit that promotes awareness of the importance of bees.

05.01.2022 Up at 6:00 am this morning and off to Mt Keira Scout Camp to site a very calm hive in a rain-forest setting. The temperature range will be an interesting aspect to this site, as will too, the variety of flora for nectar and pollen gathering by the bees. Looking forward to doing some explanatory presentations to the scouts and guides as well.... Formerly hosted by Nanna P. this hive is a good honey producer and the nature of the bees is very, very calm. We can attest to this as once we had opened the transport screen they were more interested in orienting to the new site. Not long after doing a full hive inspection including the queen we stepped back and removed our gear. Looking forward to the honey flow come full summer. As an aside, the Illawarra Escarpment has many feral colonies residing throughout.
