The money will go directly towards creating a beautiful space for women and children fleeing Domestic Violence.... Social enterprise to get behind grass root charities and that is exactly what Macleod isa group wonderful women in 1992 got together and decided to make a difference in peoples lives by creating this organisation. 17.01.2022 Start a conversation. Spread awareness. Stop domestic violence. I created Befrank to give back but also to have those tough uncomfortable conversations. I dont like this conversation but there are women & children all over Australia in isolation with their abusers right now.... Lets give @gcdomesticviolencerefuge a hand by giving them some much needed funds to assist women take safe refuge. Their website has crashed with an influx of women seeking shelter & support since we starting self isolating. Our PM reported a 75% increase in DV reports in the past week alone. I feel so unwell just thinking about this. Buy wine, donate what you can or just start a conversation so their plight is heard. 08.01.2022 This week is Homelessness Week. Domestic violence is the main cause of homelessness for women and their children. Why? This is due to the victims financial independence, as women in Australia are usually economically worse off than men. With Women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds often financially dependent on their spouses or unable to work due to visa restrictions leaving them vulnerable and feeling socially isolated. A Homelessness Australia ...strategy paper published in 2017, states that: For women and their children escaping domestic and family violence, access to housing that is secure, affordable and immediately available is the most critical factor in their support pathway. Now more than ever a home is not safe for everyone. Thank you to @gcdomesticviolencerefuge for sharing this with us.
