18.01.2022 My mate Dr.Gabor Mate sharing the impact on not expressing feelings and emotions. . This is why I am so deeply passionate about helping parents unpack their own... stories and childhoods, so they can hold space for their children. . When a child learns that it’s not safe to express how they feel, the feelings have to go somewhere. We learn very quickly as children what is ok and what is not. For so many, those feelings get pushed inside and we work hard to find ways not to feel. . Not only does this affect our mental health, our self esteem, our ability to connect, it also affects our physical health. . Dr. Gabor Mates work and research speaks to why Aware Parenting is so valuable in helping us to become healthy humans. . #connection #expression #awareparenting #consciousparenting #tears #drgabormate #laelstone #dothework See more

01.01.2022 What Are Emotional Triggers? Being emotionally triggered always goes back to not having one or more of our deepest needs/desires met.... * Acceptance * Autonomy... * Attention * Love * Safety * Fun * Consistency * Respect * Peacefulness * Predictability * Being liked * Being needed * Being right * Being valued * Being treated fairly * Being in control So how can we tell when we’re being triggered? There are a few physical and emotional experiences you might have which may include: * Trembling * Palpitations/racing heart * Choking feeling or trouble breathing/swallowing * Hot flushes * Chills * Dizziness or faintness * Nausea * Chest pain/discomfort * Feeling of detachment/unreality (known as dissociation) * Sweating * Headaches and of course a few seconds afterward Intense emotions, i.e. hatred, disgust, anger, fear, terror, grief resulting in self-protective behavior such as shouting, arguing, insulting, hiding, crying, or otherwise emotionally reacting. An emotional trigger is any topic that makes us feel uncomfortable. These emotional triggers are telling us which aspects in our life we might feel frustrated or unsatisfied with. examples: * A person who felt ignored and dismissed growing up might start yelling whenever they feel they aren’t being heard. * A person who had emotionally unavailable parents (or partners) may get insecure whenever someone isn’t there for them. * A person who felt controlled in the past might get angry when they think they’re being told what to do. * A person who felt helpless for years might panic when they’re in a situation over which they have no control. Do any of these emotional triggers resonate with you? Ask yourself, How do I handle it when this occurs? Many of us turn to food, alcohol, or other substances to dull our pain when faced with unresolved anger or other emotions. A trigger is simply a stimulus that evokes upsetting feelings, which may lead to problematic behaviors. Ever wonder why some people respond in the same destructive way over and over even though they keep getting the same bad results? Then turning to addictions or other self-destructive behaviors or habits these are learned responses to environmental and emotional triggers. You can heal these emotions in your subconscious and become emotionally fit and stronger Try SDH it’s effective and quick!
