25.01.2022 Mask time people! Please ALL present at Saddle Fittings (not the horse ) wear a mask.

25.01.2022 # What not to do. Placing your Saddle correctly on your horse is a must do as is placing your Saddle correctly on your Saddle Blanket. Gussets sitting on braided binding edges can cause pain. Saddle blankets tend to shorten in riding and what's ok pre ride may cause pain during riding. Please ensure that you place your Saddle correctly on your Saddle Blanket this is not enough space. #BEFREEE

23.01.2022 We've been so grateful to have permission from Business Victoria to continue operating thank you so much for supporting Be Free Saddle Fitting which allows us to support our young family, it's been so busy and great to see you all in person, thank you for all the precautions taken to keep everyone safe we appreciate your support and thank you very much

22.01.2022 Hi Everyone. Just a reminder that due to remote learning with our 2 kids, there will most likely be delays in response times. As always we appreciate your patience and understanding during these trying times. -Dianne

22.01.2022 STAGE 4 UPDATE 10TH of AUGUST 2020 9.40am. *EDITED* 10.55 am 10/08/20 - apologies I have just gotten off another call, riding your own horse is permitted but Saddle Fitting it is not unless racing or farm work. I have also left a voicemail with EV and I will ask them to address Saddle Fitting. At this point I have just gotten off the phone, my first point of contact was DHHS who transferred me to Business Victoria.... I've been advised that Saddle Fitting is prohibited. My adviser advised that reacrational riders are not eligible for Saddle Fittings only horses that are contributing to agricultural production or goods supply. I addressed specifically the animal welfare component of exercising the horse and the possibility of injury to both horse and rider from pain caused by I'll fitting equipment. I was advised that recreational horse riding is not currently allowed under stage 4. So how do we classify what is riding for recreation and what is riding for animal welfare? Who decides? As someone who resides in a stage 4 area the rules follow no matter where I go, if you are in stage 3 it's irrelevant when I am there the stage 4 rules apply. I'm still trying to get my head around the impact for you, your horses and our business and the financial impact we will endure. It's not a good thing for any of us At this point I am so sorry to say that we will be contacting you all to reschedule your appointments. Stay safe and we are here for you and your Saddle Fitting questions.

19.01.2022 Wow! What a crazy few moths it has been, and it looks like it will continue! Luke has been flat out fitting, in fact it's been our busiest winter by far! (everyone is at home riding ). We are very grateful to DHHS for understanding how important horse welfare is and correct fitting gear being an integral part of that. We have very limited Saturday appointments left FOR THE YEAR . And we are currently taking bookings for mid November (depending on location). If your wanting a fitting before Christmas you better get in quick! we will all be competing by the new year. Hope you are all well and staying safe. -Dianne

If you are thinking of booking or know someone who is thinking of booking, tag them, and DO IT NOW!!! ( 0415 923 354 or PM) Again we want to THANK YOU all for being ...so patient! We hope that things will settle down soon and our normal wait time of 3-4 will return soon. -Dianne A pic of a couple of our girls looking forward to the end of "lock down"

17.01.2022 Just finished up doing some messages I know that I am "difficult" at times to get a hold of so I just wanted to let you know that it's not a lack of caring or laziness on my part. I truly do as much as I can possibly do every day, I could literally spend two weeks doing nothing but messages and would be back at square one in two days. I wish that I could answer every question in depth and immediately sadly in trying to balance 13 hour days (or more) 6 days a week I have res...igned myself to doing the best I can do. I have said it before, I am a Saddle Fitter not a business person and I am a human being doing everything I can do to keep everyone around me happy I really appreciate your understanding, I do struggle to keep up with messages, I'll keep doing everything I can to be a great Saddle Fitter and I will be there for you, maybe slow but I will be See more

17.01.2022 If you have a saddle with smooth slippery leather and would like a more secure feeling we often recommend using Effax leather balm, must be the one with GRIP TECHNOLOGY ! We don't sell it sorry but it is easy to source from your preferred tack store. For us it has been very successful

12.01.2022 More of my day Saddle Fitting in my backyard, the beautiful Yarra Valley

11.01.2022 Over shimming, like over flocking can cause problems! I often find interesting things at Saddle Fittings. This Saddle (along with two others) had been over shimmed which put so much pressure on the CAIR system that the panels ruptured These Saddles were fitted regularly, fortunately an attentive Physio requested a second opinion, I'm so happy the owners took action and that we've found the cause of the horses discomfort. I can't wait to rectify the Saddle Fit and see some much happier horses.

10.01.2022 Hi Everyone. Just letting you know, we are booked out until September. Dispite Luke working six days a week . If you would like to book please do so well in advance to avoid disappointment. Its never to early to book!! -Dianne

10.01.2022 At this point we are Saddle Fitting pending further advice. Stay tuned for updates

Of course we understand some will wish to postpone their Saddle Fittings and we support your position, for those who are exercising their horses and require that the Saddle Fits correctly for horse comfort and rider safety we will be operating but we WILL be extremely strictly following all protective measures and do kindly request all clients oblige.

07.01.2022 I often wish I had more time to do Saddlery repairs, I really enjoy it but with a hectic Saddle Fitting schedule I keep them to a minimum. Here's a before and after of a recent repair to an Anky Saddle I did it's being returned to the owner tomorrow

06.01.2022 * Incorrect use of Shims EVERY time I fit a saddle with the CAIR or HEART panel system, I perform the "Heartbeat" test. EVERY saddle every time. Today I saw a first time client with a lovely chestnut mare, a bad wither rub and poor topline development were immediately concerning. The problem with using to many shims? Too hard and rigid panels that crush the CAIR panels, over flocking will also cause problems but today is about over shimming. You can see in the pictures how ...over shimming crushed and destroyed the CAIR panels and created wastage and atrophy of her topline the panels are left with an indent from to much downward pressure and the fluidity which creates the "heartbeat" is destroyed, the only option is to replace the CAIR with new panels/bladders or flocking. Luckily I had time today to do a CAIR to Flock transition ONSITE I'm happy to say this horse now has beautiful soft white wool in her Saddle now, I can't wait to see her topline development and progress as she's able to use her body correctly See more

05.01.2022 Recently I saw a comment that a certain Saddler (no know Saddle Fitting qualifications) is better than a Saddle Fitter for Fitting Saddles, there's also a business that regularly promotes themselves as Master Saddlers (actual qualifications not divolged AND never mention any Saddle Fitting qualifications) I've always been interested in this mindset and often curious about what makes a Saddler automatically a superior Saddle Fitter? Personally from my point of view the mind se...t I'm a Saddle maker so therefore I am a superior Saddle Fitter is insulting to the artist skill required to fit saddles well and "put the overall picture" together. I hate the opinion that Saddle Fitting can't be your primary interest and is often discarded as a second rate talent to making a saddle, they are entirely different jobs. You wouldn't send your horse to be trained Grand Prix to a horse breaker, they wouldn't know how but equally you wouldn't be able to ride the horse without the talent of the breaker. Horse breakers don't go around proclaiming that they are better Dressage horse educators because they can back a horse so why do we accept that Saddle makers who are not trained (or well trained) to Saddle Fit are automatically Saddle Fitter super stars? You can do both, but don't reduce Saddle Fitting to a lesser talent than Saddle making. Whatever you do, do it with passion. My passion (at the moment) is Saddle Fitting and I'm proud of all the efforts I've undertaken to be the best at it I can be! Don't tell me that years of learning Saddle Fitting and traveling around the world are inferior, don't tell me that someone with no training or passion and a talent and interest elsewhere is superior.
