25.01.2022 Bega Men A fantastic week in the Bega Men’s golf competitions this week terrific numbers on both Thursday and Saturday competition days. Thursday saw a great field contest a Single Stableford event with John Turner the winner with 35 pts, on a countback from Laurie Billman. Balls went to 34 pts.... Saturday’s event was the 2019 Men’s Foursomes Championship, played over 27 holes. The 2019 Champs were Ross Oldham & Mitch Bucholtz with a 2 under total of 106. Runners up were Stuart Cook & Jon Kite with 115. Handicap winners were Graham Roberts & Simon Owens with Nett 108.5 with runners up being Alf Buttgereit & Andrew Dick with 112.25. Nearest the pins were: (9th) R Oldham, T Allen, (12th Golden Shot) K Thorpe, (15th) P Newton, (17th) R Oldham, S Cridland, (18th) M Bucholtz. After the day’s presentation, the Men’s Committee celebrated all the shirt presentations to the year’s Monthly Medal winners and the Div2 & Senior pennant teams that won the 2019 pennants. 25.01.2022 Bega Men’s A fantastic week in Bega Men’s golf competitions with improved numbers contesting both the Thursday and Saturday competition days. Thursday saw another strong field contest a Single Stableford event with Lee Cross the winner with 43 pts, just ahead of Perry Catt on 42 pts. Balls went to 36 pts.... Saturday’s event was the 2019 2 person Xmas Day Ambrose for all members to participate with hams and chocolates aplenty. The days winners, continuing their fine form of Thursday was Lee Cross & Laurie Billman with Nett 63.75. Runners up were Garry Cooper & Jonathon Kite with Nett 64.25 whilst Evan Gray & Jason Edmunds were 3rd with Nett 64.50. Balls went down to Nett 66.50. Nearest the pins were: (9th) J Kite (12th Golden Shot) G Bethell, (15th) J Roberts, G Cooper, (17th) A Dick, G Malone & L Fuller, (18th) L Brown & J Turner. 24.01.2022 Another week and another competition well represented by players on both Thursday and Saturday. Our Thursday Stableford Medley competition was taken out by John Harney with 39pts (18) edging out Keith Thrope (16) on a countback, with balls awarded down to 35pts. Saturday delivered a beautiful day and some excellent scores in the Stableford competition. A-Grade was won by Andrew Donnelly, inspired by his playing partners, shooting 37pts (6). Keith Thorpe backed up his Thursday... form to win B-Grade with 37pts (18) while our fast improving young gun Samuel Cridland took out C-Grade with an impressive 43pts. Balls were awarded down to 31pts and a special mention to Mitch Bucholtz for making a great eagle on the 3rd. Although our 2020 Bega Open has been cancelled due to CoVid stay tuned as the committee work on a replacement event to be confirmed soon. As always we encourage participation at our great Country Club. All are welcome to enjoy a round of golf, a cold drink at the bar, a Friday night meal or simply the meat raffles. See you out there! 24.01.2022 Bega Men’s Unfortunately the welcome rain caused no play for the Thursday group and heavy conditions for the Saturday competitions this week. Saturday’s event was the Bega Cheese Monthly Medal and the first round of the 2020 Club Championships. A great field saw some good golf played by a very few, with only 5 players beating or playing to their respective handicaps. The Monthly Medal and A grade winner was Jack Roberts(2), with an even Par score and Nett 70. B grade was w...on by Grant Jessop (15) with Nett 72 whilst C grade was won by Mick Crichley (27) with Nett 76. Well done to all! 24.01.2022 Bega Golf Club report for Saturday Sep 5th 2020; A big weekend of golf for Bega Country Club with the September LJ Hooker Monthly Medal and the long awaited final round of the Bega Golf Club’s major event of the year the Club Championship. For the second year in a row the Club Championship was won by Stuart Cook with a final round 72, our B-Grade Champion was Alf Buttgereit and our C-Grade Champion was Allan Walker. A big congratulations to all the winners! The day also saw ...the battle for the LJ Hooker Monthly Medal, the medal & B-Grade winner with a great score of nett 69 was Herbert Moore, playing off a handicap of 16. A-Grade winner on the day was Stuart Cook nett 73 (+1), C-Grade was won by William Dykstra nett 71 (36) and balls went down to nett 77 COB. Our Thursday Medley Comp (Sep 3rd) was won by Wendy Hergenhan with 39pts (8) with William Ubrihien taking second place with 36pts, balls going down to 33pts. The A grade winner was Luke Donnelly on a countback from Jack Roberts with 37 pts whilst B grade was won by Keith Thorpe on 36 pts. Thursday’s event was strongly attended with the day’s event being a Single Stableford. The days winner was Mal Lee with a redhot 44pts, well in front of Glenn Parker with 39 pts. Balls went down to 38 pts.... Saturday’s event was the annual 2 Ball Shootout with 6 holes of 4BBB Stroke, 6 holes Ambrose & 6 holes American Foursomes. Winners for the day were Mick Ward and Greg Bethell with Nett 61.5, just in front of Simon Owens and Jeff Ferguson with Nett 63.5 Nearest the pins were: (9th) G Roberts, (12th Golden Shot) A Buttgereit, (15th) G Roberts, L Cross & J Ferguson, (17th) A Dick, L Cross & J Ferguson, (18th) L Billman, C Cuzner. This Saturday sees the start of the 2020 Club Championships, to take place over the next 4 Monthly Medals. Commencing this Saturday, 7 March, Round 1 will coincide with the Bega Cheese Medal, Round 2 on 4 April with the LJHooker Medal, Round 3 on 2 May with Tarra Motors Medal and culminating with the final Round 4 on 6 June 2020. Thursday saw a very competitive field play with Lee Cross the day’s winner with a strong 40 pts. Second place was Shaun Kennedy with a solid 39 42 pts. Great golf everyone!... Saturday saw some sensational scores despite the hot weather with the A grade winner being Andrew Dick with a Nett 66. C grade winner with a Nett 69 was Nick Newton whilst the best round of the day went to B grade winner and Bega Cheese Monthly Medal was Steve Jones with a sensational Nett 62. Congratulations to all. 22.01.2022 Bega Men's Golf Results 26 August 2019 Weather conditions caused the cancellation of the Thursday competition however, the Saturday competition saw good numbers in the Bega Men’s Golf this week.... Saturday saw a Single Stableford event with scores under pressure with the icy and windy weather conditions. The A grade winner with 35 pts was Mitch Bucholtz whilst B grade was won with 38 pts by Keith Thorpe (for the second week in a row!!). Best score of the day was the C grade winner, newcomer Perry Catt with 41 pts. Balls went down to 34 pts. Nearest to pin winners were; (9th) J Roberts, K Thorpe (12th Golden Shot) M Bucholtz (15th) G Roberts, C Murphy (17th) J Kite, J Turner & G Motbey (18th) A Dick & P Russell. This Saturday sees the local qualifying round of the Keno 2 person Ambrose event with tee times available from 8.30 10.30 am. Each club will have categories for men’s, ladies and mixed teams, with the winning teams moving to the Regional Final at Mollymook and then progressing to the State Final at Bonville in December. Thursday saw a great field contest an ANZAC Stableford Medley with Graham Roberts the day’s winner with an outstanding score of 44 pts. Selwyn Yates was 2nd with 43 pts , whilst Tony Grebert was 3rd with 42 pts. Great golf everyone!.... Saturday saw another good attendance, with improved numbers and some strong scores. Thursday saw another competitive group with the day’s winner being Michael Krucler, on a countback from Greg Bethell with 40 pts. Balls went down to 36 pts. ... Saturday saw a Single Stableford event with A grade winner being Graham Roberts with 35 pts. B grade winner with 38pts was Keith Thorpe but the round of the day was C grade winner Colin Murphy with 41 pts Balls went down to 29 pts. 19.01.2022 Bega Men A great week in Bega Men’s golf with play on both Thursday and Saturday seeing wonderful numbers, including a strong contingent of visitors to our wonderful course. Thursday saw a competitive field play with Malcom Lee the day’s winner, on a countback from Laurie Billman with 40 pts.... Saturday saw some very good scores in the annual 2 Ball Shoot Out. The event saw pairs combine for 6 holes of Fourball Stroke, 6 holes of Ambrose, then 6 holes of American Foursomes. An interesting game that saw some wonderful, and not so wonderful golf played. 18.01.2022 Bega Men Mixed weather conditions over the weekend saw reduced numbers compete in the 2019 MGA Insurance Brokers Bega Open. Saturday saw a reduced field contest day 1 with scores being not as hot as last year with the prospect of rain and cooler weather conditions being experienced. Saturday’s results saw Ross Oldham and Stuart Cook lead A grade gross whilst Peter Newton was the best Nett. Sean Cridland led both the B grade gross and Nett with Mark Rose right behind him in ...the Nett. C grade leader gross was David Jones with David Irving leading the Nett. The nearest to pins were won by; (9th) B Hanscombe & A Buttgereit, (12th Golden Shot) G Motbey, (15th) Will Ubrihien, (17th) G Roberts, H Moore & M Brown, (18th) J Kite & D Irving. Sunday saw a smaller field backup to contest day 2 with some strong scores being recorded again. Thursday saw an great field contest a Single Stableford event with Denis Stewart (7) the winner with 38pts, just ahead of Graham Roberts (7) with 37 pts. Balls went to 33 pts. Saturday saw Round 2 of the 2020 Club Championships, as well as the Bega Bobcats Monthly Medal, thanks to our great supporters Mick & Kerry Grant. The A grade and Monthly Medal winner was Will Ubrihien (7) with Nett 66. Great score Will !!! B grade was won by Greg Motbey (14) with Nett 75 whilst Joel Tamatea (27) won C grade with Nett 74. 18.01.2022 Bega Men's Golf Results 30 September 2019 Another strong week in Bega Men’s Golf with tremendous numbers and great scores across the board.... Thursday saw a competitive field play a Single Stableford event with the day’s winner being Mark Webster with an strong 38 pts. Balls went down to 30 pts. Saturday saw a Single Stableford event, combined with the annual Captains Vs Presidents competition, with good attendance and a competitive feel. The A grade winner and best score of the day went to Jonathon Kite with 40 pts, whilst the B grade was won by Alf Buttgereit on 36 pts and C grade winner was Perry Catt with 31 pts. The result of the Captains Vs Presidents day was a major disappointment for the President with a resounding win, 503 to 426 to the Captain and his team. Saturday’s event was also a Single Stableford with a strong field attending. The A grade winner was Luke Donnelly with 36 pts, likewise, Sean Cridland won B grade with 36pts as well. The best score of the day was Alex Langworthy who won C grade with 37pts. Balls went down to 33 pts. Prior to the weekly day’s presentation, the Men’s Committee celebrated the longstanding service to the Golf Club of retiring committee member Tony Grebert. Tony has diligently and willingly served the Committee and Men’s Golf during a difficult period and will be sorely missed in the future. This week sees the 27 hole Men’s Club Foursomes Championship. Tee off times for the Foursomes will be from 9.30am 10.30am and will be followed by the annual club presentation event and pennant celebration. Unfortunately, there was no competition on Thursday and Saturday’s Single Stableford saw a small field but produce some exceptional scores. The A grade winner was Chris Dela Mare with 44 pts whilst C grade was won by Larry Fuller with 33pts. The B grade winner and best score of the day was Greg Motbey with 42 pts. 16.01.2022 Bega Men The scores were hot again this week whilst the weather was a little fresher for players in this week’s Bega Men’s Golf for both Thursday and Friday events. Thursday again saw some very good scores in a Single Stableford event. The day’s winner was Alan Walker with 41 pts, followed by David Jones with 40 pts.... Thursday saw a small but competitive field contest a Single Stableford event with Perry Catt the winner with 38 pts.... Saturday’s event was another Single Stableford with the very windy conditions restricting the field to a very small group of brave players. Thursday saw a small but enthusiastic roll up playing a Single Stableford event with the days winner being Sean Cridland with 36 pts, just in front of John Turner with 35 pts. 11.01.2022 Bega Men's Golf Results 16 September 2019 A wonderful week in this week’s Bega Men’s Golf with tremendous numbers and great scores across the board.... Thursday saw a competitive field play a Single Stableford event with the day’s winner being Peter Wiley with 39 pts. Balls went down to 35 pts. Saturday saw the return leg of the 2019 Bega-Bermagui Challenge. With Bermagui holding a commanding lead of 25 points after leg1, it was expected that Bega would take full advantage of the home ground advantage for leg2. Despite recording the day’s best score of 46 pts, Bega pairing of Glenn Boyd and Mitch Bucholtz couldn’t hold back the Bermagui tide. Bega won the day 621-619 however the trophy boarded the bus with the Bermagui team and headed north. 08.01.2022 A big shout out to all members!! Our course has never looked or played better than it is right now so we strongly encourage all players to book a game and enjoy it! Our Thursday competition was won by Greg Bethell with a solid 37pts (19) closely followed by runner-up Scott Fuller with 35pts (30), ball comp awarded down to 32pts. As preparation for the District Championship continued (played last Sunday) the Saturday field enjoyed a beautifully presented golf course. Greg Beth...ell continued his strong form by taking out the February MGM Panelbeaters Monthly Medal with a nett 71 (19), runner-up was David Balmain with nett 73 (24) and the ball comp awarded down to nett 77. A couple of impressive eagles occurred with Gerard Malone holing out on the 6th and Simon Stuart matching that feat by holing out on the 13th, well done do both lads (1 ball each...hmmm). 08.01.2022 A big week of golf kicked off last Sunday Feb 7th with the District Championship hosted by Bega Country Club. The weather was great and the course was even better, many visitors complimenting on the condition of our course and the overall set-up. The 2021 District Champion was won by Gavin Fitzgerald (Moruya) with a impressive 71 off the stick, runner-up going to Scott Richardson (Tura) 72 and 3rd place to Stuart Cook 74. The A-Grade competition was won by Sean Cridland (Bega...) with a nett 68 while Jack Roberts & Mitch Bucholtz shared runner up with a nett 74. The B-Grade field was lead by Arnold Tyson (Moruya) with 37pts just ahead of Gerald Malone (Bega) 35pts. C-Grade delivered the best score of the day with Bega’s rising star Samuel Cridland shooting an impressive 43pts which also secured the District Junior title for Sam. With over 100 players on the day it was great to see so many of the Bega crew amongst the winners. Well done to all players and a big thanks to all the volunteers who helped to make the day a great success. More beautiful weather greeted the field for our Thursday competition with Greg Bethell again beating all comers shooting 40pts (18) on a count back from Chris DeLa Mare (2). The ball comp was awarded down to 32pts. Our Saturday Competition was a Stableford event won by Colin Cuzner with 40pts (18), runner-up went to Luke Oliveri 39pts (25) and balls awarded down to 32pts. Sunday Feb 14th saw the start of the Pennant season where Bega took on Tura Beach at Pambula - Merimbula Golf Club. Results; Division 1 - Bega lost to Tura 3.5 to 1.5 Division 2 - Bega defeated Tura 3.5 to 1.5 Seniors - Bega lost to Tura 3 to 2 A great effort by all players and a big thanks for your participation. This week is a BYE for the Bega team with RD3 commencing the following week Feb 28th at Tathra Golf Club. 08.01.2022 Bega Men’s Better weather conditions this week saw better numbers compete in the Bega Men’s golf competitions. Thursday saw a competitive field contest a Single Stableford event with Peter Gibbs the winner with 38 pts. Balls went down to 34 pts.... Saturday’s event was an American Foursomes with partners undertaking alternate shots with some interesting tales to be told at days end. The day’s winners were Len Brown and Mick Ward, just ahead of young guns Jack Roberts & Luke Donneelly. Nearest the pins were: (9th) L Billman, (12th Golden Shot) K Carter, (15th) S Owens & A Buttgereit, (18th) L Billman. Sunday saw the annual Big Ball Drop & Family Fun day with a good crowd enjoying a sunny day with lots of activities available to enjoy. 06.01.2022 Bega Golf Club report for Saturday Aug 29th 2020; For the first time in several weeks the weather turned one on, a beautiful day matched by a beautifully presented course, great greens and a strong field. Comp of the day was Stableford played off the blue markers, A Grade winner Stuart Cook 36pts (+1), B Grade Winner Gerard Malone 38pts (18), C Grade Michael Critchley 36pts (25) and balls going down to 30pts-CB. Thursday saw a competitive field play a Single Stableford event with the day’s winner being Keith Thorpe, narrowly beating Steve Jones on a countback, both with 37 pts. Balls went down to 32 pts. Saturday saw a strong contingent of players front for the Barbeques Galore Monthly Medal. A grade winner with Nett 71 was Andrew Dick whilst Garry Cooper won C grade, also with Nett 71. The B grade winner and best score of the day went to Alf Buttgereit with a terrific Nett 67. Well done everyone! Thursday saw a good attendance with some solid scores being recorded. The day’s winner was Laurie Billman with 41 pts, just in front of Garry Atkinson with 39 pts. Balls went down to 34 pts.... Saturday saw the 4th round of the Club Championships with good attendance in sunny but cool conditions. A grade winner and 2019 Club Champion was Stuart Cook, in front of Ross Oldham and Jack Roberts. In a back to back result, the B grade Champion for 2019 was Selwyn Yates again, in front of Herbert Moore and James Moore, whilst the C grade Champion for 2019 was Corey Leahy, by just 2 strokes over Clinton Smith and Nigel Gottaas running 3rd. 03.01.2022 Bega Men's Golf Results 5 August 2019 A very busy week in Bega Mens Golf with great attendances on both the Thursday and Saturday competitions.... Thursday saw a strong contingent play a Single Stableford event with the days winner being Keith Thorpe with 40 pts, just in front of ever consistant Barry Pearson, also on 40 pts. Balls went down to 35 pts. Saturday saw the first round of the Bermagui-Bega annual challenge with Bega venturing north. Bermagui were too strong on the day with 4 wins, 2 draws and only 1 victory to Bega. Best for Bermagui with 48 pts was W McKenzie & G Maloney whilst Bega’s onlt winning team Col Murphy & Toby Taylor with 40 pts. Bermagui lead the competition with a total of 329 over Bega’s 304. Bega will be out for revenge on the return visit in September. This Saturday sees the Bega Betta Electrical August Monthly Medal so grab a mate and come and enjoy our wonderful course. Also, a reminder that the annual Ladies Hospital Auxillary Charity Golf day will take place on Sunday 18th August 2019 from 9.30 am. 03.01.2022 Bega Men’s Golf Report Saturday 10th October gave all players an opportunity to have some fun and enjoy the 4-ball Ambrose competition. With the course set-up to give players the best opportunity to make birdies it was the group of Graham Roberts, Jack Roberts, Colin Murphy & Stuart Cook taking full advantage of conditions with an impressive 17 under par off the stick for a nett 51.75, narrowly beating the group of Justin Welsford, Scott Fuller, Larry Fuller & Gerard Malone w...ith a great score of 52.12. A great day was had by all, ensure you’re part of the fun when we next tackle a Ambrose event. Our Thursday stableford competition was a competitive day with Simon Stuart taking the win with 42pts (9) and runner-up going to Greg Bethell, balls awarded down to 34pts. 03.01.2022 Bega Men Golf Report Saturday October 3rd competition saw the BBQ Galore Monthly Medal played in the first hot and windy conditions for some time. Golfers of all levels were tested in the tough conditions but it was David Armstrong who outplayed all of A-grade to win with a Nett 72 (7). Ricky Stapleton proved too good for the field to win B-Grade and the BBQ Galore Monthly Medal with a great Nett 69 (15). Once again it was Samuel Cridland, who is making a habit of wining, tak...ing out C-Grade with a nett 70 (30), well done Sam! During the Saturday presentation the entire clubhouse was given a genuine lift as Simon Owens, our President, joined the ceremony via skype. It was great to see our Pres & mate doing well and delivering a dose of banter to the group. Great to see you Simon! 01.01.2022 Bega Men Another great week in Bega Men’s golf with solid numbers and good scores for both the Thursday and Saturday events. Thursday saw a competitive group with the day’s winner being Lee Cross with 35 pts, just in front of Jack Roberts, also with 35 pts. Balls went down to 29 pts.... Saturday saw the Tarra Ford Monthly Medal event in wonderful conditions. A grade winner and Monthly Medal winner was Jack Roberts. Jack played the course in even Par 72 and achieving a Nett 68. B grade was won by Alf Buttgereit with Nett 69 whilst C grade winner Corey Leahy with Nett 74. Congratulations to all. The nearest to pins were won by; (9th) J Roberts, E Collins, (12th Golden Shot) J Smith, (15th) A Donnelly, (17th) C Jennings & P Gibbs (18th) J Roberts & A Buttgereit. Well done all! 01.01.2022 Bega Men's Golf Results 2 September 2019 Better weather conditions saw some good numbers and better scores in this week’s Bega Men’s Golf.... Thursday saw a competitive field play a Single Stableford event with the day’s winner being Garry Cooper with a fine score of 41 pts. Balls went down to 36 pts. Saturday saw the local qualifying round of the Keno 2 person Ambrose event with categories for men’s and mixed teams being contested. The men’s winners were Andrew Dick & Colin Cuzner, whilst Gerard & Wendy Hergenhan won the mixed category. Both teams will now head to Mollymook on 27 October to contest the regional final, attempting to win their way to the State Final at Bonville in December. Good luck to both teams. The other Saturday event was a Single Stableford with the winner being Life Member Colin Murphy with 38 pts, on a countback from a gallant Nick Newton. Balls went down to 32 pts. Nearest to pin winners were; (9th) B Hanscombe (12th Golden Shot) D Douch (15th) N Newton (18th) A Dick . Saturday also saw the final of the Single Matchplay Championship for 2019 with President Simon Owens outlasting young gun Michael Krucler 3/2 to capture the title. The 4BBB Matchplay will be contested before the end of September between reigning champs David Jones & Mitch Bucholtz, up against arch rivals Shawn Kennedy & John Harney.
