23.01.2022 Happy National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day. This day is held every year on August 4. It's an opportunity for the whole community to celebrate our children, culture, family and community. Hearing children’s voices today plays a crucial role in them becoming influential Elders and leaders of the future. The majority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are thriving and growing up strong in their cultures, with support from their families an...d communities. However, a significant number of our children continue to face ongoing challenges stemming from colonisation and its effects. This includes discrimination, poverty, systemic removal, intergenerational trauma, dislocation from land and culture, and community disempowerment. To achieve equality, we must approach these challenges through a holistic approach, considering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children’s wellbeing, safety and development. Lets celebrate the strengths, histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children in Australia. We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice. via. https://aboriginalchildrensday.com.au/
