23.01.2022 FLOOD WATCH ILLAWARRA COAST, SOUTH COAST INCLUDING BEGA AND TOWAMBA RIVERS Flood Warnings are current and rainfall associated with a second trough has the potential to cause minor to moderate flooding from Sunday through to the middle of the week along parts NSW coast from the Northern Rivers to the South Coast as well as parts of the Central West and North West. 22.01.2022 FLOOD RESCUE TRAINING Over the weekend four volunteer In-Water Flood Rescue Operators from the Bega Unit attended a professional development workshop at Manly Hydraulics Lab in Sydney. In a first for the #NSWSES, Flood Rescue Trainee Trainers, under the supervision of Foundation Trainers, endured temperatures in excess of 40 degrees to deliver professional development training to 15 volunteers from across the state in the following key areas:... Command and Control Victim Management in Water Raft Management and Control Rescue from Vehicles and Night Operations Maintaining currency in high risk skill sets such as flood rescue is imperative to ensuring our volunteers are always ready to assist the community when needed. Thank you to Michelle, Rod, Janice and Jackie for giving up your weekend to hone your skills!

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES, for people in Metropolitan and parts of Mid North Coast, Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands and Northern Tablelands Districts. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. 15.01.2022 We are sure you know - the NSW #SES is great at helping you when there is storm damage or trees down blocking roads or people who need rescuing from flood water! But did you know that we also help in road crash situations to help people get out and be rescued. We even have some of our team in Queensland helping those guys after their wild storms! Over the last couple of weeks our Eden Unit trained hard to make sure they are ready and prepared for road crash rescues, and the Bega and Bermagui Units also trained hard to be storm and water damage ready, including crawling on roof's and practicing with pumps and lights! #SESPride

After the year it has been and with plenty of training to stay fresh - the Bermagui and Bega Units spent this very warm (read that as hot) Saturday sharpening up the chainsaws and practicing felling dead trees and cutting them up on the ground for removal - after all practice makes perfect! #SES - always ready, always there! 132 500... 12.01.2022 MARCHING WITH HONOUR Sapphire Coast Local Commander, Michelle De Friskbom participated in the Emergency Services and Australian Defence Force Marching Contingent at the NSW Police Force Classes of 2020 Attestation Ceremony at the Sydney Cricket Ground today. Michelle said, It was an absolute honour and privilege to be chosen to represent my SES friends that lost their homes and were severely impacted during the #blacksummerbushfires , the Sapphire Coast NSW SES volunt...eers that supported the NSWRFS tirelessly, then went on to assist in multiple flood events, storms and requests for assistance at the #COVID Border Check Point at Timbillica AND of course the NSW SES, we have all endured a year like no other. The marching contingent consisted of representatives from the NSW SES, Australian Decence Force, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW RFS, Corrective Services NSW, NSW Nurses and Midwives Association, Ambulance NSW and the Volunteer Rescue Association. #NSWSES #respect #standproud #sespride

12.01.2022 QLD DEPLOYMENT Three members from the Bega Valley deployed to QLD this morning as part of strike teams from #NSWSES that have been sent to assist with the severe hailstorms that lashed the state last Saturday. The storm and water damage heights crew deployed from Canberra this morning and will return next Wednesday after assisting with the many roof tarping requests for assistance from the QLD community....
