25.01.2022 International Dog Day Today If you know our family, we are big dog lovers and our furbabies are just as much part of the family! Ideally I would take our puppies everywhere we go, they are such great companions and love to come wherever we go, usually one step behind me all the time... ... Their quirks: Maggie (the blue roan cocker spaniel) every now and then loves to get on her back and wriggles around and gets all excited... loves to play. She also loves to hop up on our bed in the mornings, backs up and gets comfy lol so cute! Fave foods is cheese and eggs Charlotte (golden cocker)... for attention often uses her nose and pushes my phone or book out of my hands, loves to be front and centre sometimes. She’s also good for getting under my feet always one step behind. Will sometimes go up to kids rooms in morning and checks them seeing if they’re awake yet. If you have a fur baby in your home, post your pic below and let’s celebrate those pooches that we love, don’t talk back (haha), that we couldn’t be without! drop below in comments. Mel x

24.01.2022 Pallaton Raphno Brassica is looking good under the pivot Love seeing our green patch from the highway as you drive past... and coming out turning the pivot on and off, as we water it most days with the artesian bore water Today got a bit warm, so I actually went & stood under the pivot for a bit this arvo, so refreshing

24.01.2022 Shifting sheep this morning in the wet paddocks!

22.01.2022 It’s all happening in our shearing shed at the moment! Shearing at Binnowie 2020 Yes it’s that time of year again here on the farm! Flying through them with 4 shearer’s on the board!

21.01.2022 Sunday morning and Liv decided to take Casper the goat for a walk! He’s so quiet and friendly

21.01.2022 Finally.... we make a start on tree planting Thanks to local Reedy Creek Nursery, we’ve planted a few hundred trees in two plots down at our farm at Reedy Creek. We went with all eucalypts for this block being sandier soil, should grow nicely down there. ... Next, to start on our place putting in trees around the house to create a newer shelter belt and then move on to our paddocks on the flats! Can’t wait! I love plants and nature! Nice time in the outdoors this arvo! Much needed time to get my hands dirty! This is what I call nature therapy!

20.01.2022 Still quite overcast, but no wind today which is good! Went around part of the farm this morning with Mark, checking the feed, shifting sheep... certainly have some rains after last weeks pour downs of 52mm in total. Was an amazing drop of rain we needed! Now we just need the sun

19.01.2022 Feeding lambs.... yes it’s that time of year again!

18.01.2022 Nice day for a bon fire at home! Blue sky, sun is out, what a pearler day!

17.01.2022 So it’s been busy times on the farm with lambs poppin out left, right and centre! I was checking the ewes this morning with our daughter when I came across a ewe that was in trouble... Pulled one lamb and then another... both alive and well... some times we’re not so lucky, but in this case we were! Happy days!! Lambing continues for another couple of weeks... but I love this time of year! ... Enjoy the birthing experience (not for the faint hearted)! Mel x

15.01.2022 It’s been a busy day today here at the farm.... from cleaning the house, catching up on washing (normal mum stuff, as school goes back tomorrow for Term 4 here in SA) while we have this amazing weather... to mowing lawns, mulching the orchard with some bean straw & selling some bags of sheep manure with our side of road stall! You can just pull up and help yourself & leave $$ in the honesty box!

13.01.2022 Look how fluffy ‘Caspers’ winter coat is! He’s looking very healthy at the moment lol... but I think it’s mostly his winter coat. It’s so so soft!

13.01.2022 Drafting ewes and lambs today, lambs having their second vaccinations. All is well, sun was out, just a tad chilly with the wind.

12.01.2022 Getting lambs in for first weighing today for the season!

09.01.2022 Early morning lamb spam

08.01.2022 Nothing like toasting marshmallows on the fire one of our fave things to do in winter!

08.01.2022 last day at our farm giving the lambs their second vaccinations. They’re growing and looking really good so far! Next few weeks are pretty cruises, then come October/November/December we’ll be flat out on the farm with seeding, crutching, shearing, rams out in December for mating.... it’s all happening! Luckily today my ankle felt ok, but still sore and tender from spraining it just over a week ago... but I ventured out to help out, as I was going nuts at home inside last week. So good to enjoy the fresh and I mean VERY fresh air today after a frosty start this morning.

07.01.2022 Some shearing snaps from today! Shearing at our place 2020!

05.01.2022 Some more snaps from our shearing at Binnowie 2020! Saturday morning and they’ve got some x-bred Border lambs to do this morning, but should finish by 9:30am. It’s been another great shearing season. Big thanks and cheers to Toby Heinrich from Kingston SE and his team.

05.01.2022 Shearer Isaac showing us how he can throw a fleece backward! Not as good as the one he did the other day, but still pretty darn impressive, I know I couldn’t do it if I tried!

05.01.2022 Had to go out in paddock this evening with Mark... and man it’s wet!! You can hear the water coming up underneath the buggy! Sure is going to make for an interesting lamb marking soon when we drag the portable yards around.. FYI - if planning on coming to the farm, bring your wellies!

05.01.2022 How cool is this tool! Makes life so much easier and highly recommend

04.01.2022 A second video just released! This show cases more info of the Pallaton Raphno we grew down at Reedy Creek farm for feed and to finish off the lambs this year. Sharing how well the trial went and the benefits we’ve seen from this amazing plant

03.01.2022 Loving having Jenni and her daughter in the B&B for two nights!

03.01.2022 Here on the farm we are pretty excited to show case Marks father Alick Beggs talking about our Pallaton Raphno Brassica that we grew at our Reedy Creek farm under irrigation.. grew well, yielded well and was great for our prime lamb enterprise in finishing them off. We’re pretty proud of Alick and how this Pallaton has grown!
