25.01.2022 Little Lincoln had his best session ever yesterday - made me incredibly proud of him but also incredibly tired once he was gone. WE worked hard :) X

24.01.2022 It's fun Friday. So what crazy thing happened this week? Well, my clients are amazing at seeing the funny side of some pretty challenging things. Here's one for this week. I just gave one of my clients a toileting data form to fill in. She then sent me the following message. "How would you report the toileting data when the child had an accident and you can't find the wee puddle anywhere but a few hours later because you accidentally step on it, bare-feet, slip on it, hit the ground and nearly break your wrist? Asking for a friend."

24.01.2022 Early start. Heading to Bundaberg for the day. The drive to the airport gave me time to time to think about what was on Australian Story last night. Did anyone watch it? Here it is if you get some time. It's worth watching. Not just for families with children with Autism but for everyone. I talk with parents a lot about seeking support and gaining as much knowledge and skills as they can, but not depending on any one person so much that if that person left that their child ...would stop moving forward. Sadly, as much as we don't want to think about it we don't know how long WE will be with our kids. HOPEFULLY, a long time but we just don't know. So the most important job for all parents is to build a village of support around their children when they are young and get all the help and knowledge needed so that when our kids grow up they will be the most independent adults possible. Adults who will contribute to society and enjoy everything that life has to offer. 21.01.2022 He will, he will, rock you! Ralphy is rocking our world big time. This little guy started with B2L last November. As you can see he is learning some awesome skills and I think we may have our B2L rock band starting up soon! I am on holidays now and today was a joy to finish on. Thanks Ralphy! 21.01.2022 I love junk art !! Such a good activity and the kids at kindy do it all the time. So many cool skills can be worked on - today we looked at what we need to make a person and then worked on some good fine motor cutting skills. THE BEST THING today was - 3 sessions in a row with no tantrums when leaving and even carried his junk man out - AWESOME !!!

18.01.2022 Zoom consultation fun - I am not the best at drawing anyway although I am pretty good at drawing like a kid. BUT drawing and writing upside down for the camera is not easy!! I think I did pretty good. Meet my dinosaur that I made yesterday with one my of clients. He ate some hamburgers - yum yum X

17.01.2022 Let's help each other. I have a few families and therapy teams that are creating book resources. Cool resources that go with books that will help children who are just starting to work on increasing their engagement, tolerance and other beginning skills such as matching, looking at the resources, receptive and expressive labels, basic discrimination and just to love a good book:) Here is one example that a lovely mum gave me last month. I have used it so many times already... for different goals. If you have an idea and have the time to send me a photo and a description if needed that would be amazing. I will add it to the Pinterest page and my website (I hope to make my website before I hit retirement :). I have created a list of books that would be good to create resources for and will add to it when I get some help from you. 17.01.2022 My dog Lily came to visit today. Lily and Isaac have known each other for a few years now. Lily helped Isaac learn to keep his hat on in the early years. Hat stays on you get to see Lily - that skill took one session to master. Thank you Lily :). They have been playing ball for a few years now but today was the first time we just chilled for some gentle pats. Merry Christmas Isaac XX

17.01.2022 Thursday afternoon fun with Lincoln. Mostly some fun learning but it did end with a quality tantrum regarding a rocket ship that he wanted to play with 5 minutes before the session was finishing. Although it was pretty big in intensity it was short in duration so I consider that a win. Lincoln has come a long way and he really is an awesome kid to work (PLAY:) with, but he still likes to give our sessions a bit of spice to make sure I am not slacking off

16.01.2022 Funny one - one of the mums I have been working with for many years is home with her son who is sick today. Two days off school with a runny nose and a cough. She tells me on the phone that she was happy about this because she would finally get the opportunity and time to work on learning to wipe his nose with a tissue and coughing without splattering all over people. Have you ever heard a mum say this?? She is a little crazy and that's why we work well together. I am going to name you - you crazy passionate hard working mum you - Megan you're awesome and Archie is going to be the best nose wiper ever I am sure:) XX

16.01.2022 Heading to Atherton at the end of the week!! I will get to see families I have been lucky enough to work with for many years, and meet some new families at a few workshops I will be running. Looking forward to it:)

15.01.2022 Lincoln's drawing progress update. I am going to keep updating you as the year goes on. Lincoln started prep this year and I have worked with him for 3 years at home, the B2L clinic and his kindy. This is his beautiful mum Laura. He described her first and then drew the picture. What I love the most is when he draws his whole face looks so tense because he is trying so hard, and then he makes his last mark, looks up at me with a huge smile. Seeing such pride and joy is the best !

13.01.2022 Very proud of this awesome kid!! Three years ago Lincoln screamed for the majority of our sessions and if you asked him to give you the car that was in his hand - WOW Watch out!! Look at him now!! A goof ball, crazy fun kid, who is an absolute joy to teach. He loves learning, tries so hard and is loving his first year of school. Congratulations Lincoln!!! XX

12.01.2022 Love a good find at the local Op shop. Can never have enough books and when you get them for $1 each AWESOME. Ashy’s SLT came and visited B2L today for a joint session and she asked us to work on his opposites. Then I found this beautiful Hairy MacLary book! The Simpson boys are pretty passionate about the Wiggles - they are going to love these books about Simon and Lachy's adventures! Good resources are important CHEAP GOOD ones are the best. Check out your local Op shop before you buy new and hope that I haven’t got there first Have a great weekend everyone X

10.01.2022 A fun afternoon with my girl's social group. The girls agreed I needed some more make up on. We also made a lot of paper chains!! Awesome team work and following the group plan. Hmm... might wash this off before I go out :)

09.01.2022 Self isolation resource support - Hi everyone, many of the families I work with have been saying they are needing more books to read to their kids but obviously can't go to the library and don't want to spend money on online book shops if they don't need. If people know of more online sites that have free books for kids to read or have people reading to them let me know. Here is a site I like - Storyline Online has actors reading the stories. I even found one with 'Benson' reading it. I'm guessing many of you won't be old enough to know who Benson is?? It also gives activity guides to help with different questions to ask your kids about the book. Check it out and I will send more Resource Support in the future https://www.storylineonline.net/

09.01.2022 A day in the life of a very dedicated mummy. Another post about awesome little Harry. I watched him playing with my train set today - which took me ages to put together so I was so happy when he finally left the alphabet cards (his first love) to play with the trains. Brooke (mum) and I were talking about how his play skills are increasing and then she showed me some of the things he has done at home this week. This is why I see huge gains every time I see him. Brooke your awesome and I wish I could hire you as my resource maker !! (I also posted him playing with my train set so everyone could see how impressive my train track making was :)

04.01.2022 SURPRISE KIRSTEN I CAN TYPE !!! Harry's mum and I were talking about how challenging it is for Harry when people don't understand him. He is trying to tell us something but he is unable to pronounce some of his sounds and it can be very frustrating for him and leads to him being incredibly upset which also leads to us not moving forward with an activity or routine. The amazing thing about Harry is he can read really well. So we put my iPad next to us and I started typing what... we were doing. He was interested and was happy to finish off words that we started. I prompted him and made sure it was easy for him to find the letters. At one point I typed the colour of the next piece of puzzle to put on and thought that was enough BUT Harry thought I needed more information. He spontaneously and independently finished the sentence off for me. As you can see I was a bit shocked!! Looking forward to our next session Brooke - have fun :) See more

02.01.2022 My son Dylan came in to play with Sara today. He used to help me all the time. It was so nice to have him working (playing !!) with my clients again. Having a good model that is a kid who does kid stuff is awesome. I do ok but I am not a kid:)

02.01.2022 My visuals are never very pretty. Actually some times they look like a chicken drew them. I gave one of my awesome parents an idea for a visual to help with their morning and afternoon routine and the mum got a little excited and turned it into this masterpiece. I always say that pretty is only good if you use it and it works. This visual alongside the consistent team work of both mum and dad has worked a treat !! Hooray!! Let's move on to the next goal please :). Have a great day everyone X
