21.01.2022 Today is World Trafficking against persons. That can sound like a big, distant term until you understand what it means. When people think of the term trafficking they think of drug trafficking. But in 2020, there is a product for sale that generates billions more dollars than anything else and can be sold time and time again.... This commodity is people! Human trafficking doesn’t discriminate against race, age or class. People worldwide are sold for sex, labour and organs in third world countries and in our safe and secure hometowns and our suburbs. It’s estimated that close to 48 million people are trafficked with that number growing daily. And with the added vulnerabilities of Covid those at risk including millions of children are now prey for the traffickers. But what can we do? Firstly educate yourself. Ignorance is not bliss and it’s our responsibility as free people to be a voice for those whose voices have been stolen. We have more info on our website but also check out our partner organisation A21 Australia doing incredible work to fight against this. Secondly, give to anti-human trafficking organisations working to see people rescued and restored. Be Hers partners directly with these organisations to fight slavery and exploitation giving 100% of your tax deductible donation to support anti-trafficking efforts. 19.01.2022 Many, many years ago I wrote on the screensaver of my old Nokia phone, freedom is only a step away. At that time I had no idea of what the future would hold, all I knew was that there were areas of my life that I didn’t feel free in BUT if I was brave enough to try and change them I could by overcoming my fears one step at a time. That word took on a whole new meaning as I started to learn about the horrors of human trafficking and in founding @behers.org.au my focus shift...ed from not only fighting for my own freedom but using the freedom I am so blessed to have to fight for the freedom of those who have had theirs stolen.
