16.01.2022 Today is #NationalHugDay! Hugging has many benefits for our health with different studies showing that hugging helps build a good immune system and decrease risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure and trigger the release of healthy hormones. It seems ironic to celebrate #NationalHugDay in a year where we can’t embrace because of COVID so we would like to hear how you’re keeping in touch? Virtual hug, elbow bump, air high-five? Share with our community by leaving a comment below!

10.01.2022 Congratulations to all our Peer Group Facilitators who completed their education program last week and are now ready to facilitate our Suicide Awareness and Prevention Peer Support Groups. Our eight graduates will soon start facilitating groups across Sydney and NSW, as culturally safe and trauma-informed spaces where conversations on suicidality can be explored in a non-clinical environment. The Suicide Support & Awareness Groups will run as closed and confidential groups ov...er the next three months, supported by the new Peer Group Facilitators who have their own experiences living with mental health issues and suicidal crisis. If you would like to participate in one of these groups, they will start soon and run in Goulburn, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Newcastle and the Inner West. Find more or register your interest in joining a group here https://being.org.au/suicide-support-awareness-program/ Need help now? Crisis support is available: Lifeline 13 11 14 & Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467

07.01.2022 Central and Eastern Sydney PHN recently visited BEING Mental Health Consumers to film our CEO Irene Gallagher speaking about the new Suicide Awareness and Prevention Peer Support Groups launching in #Newtown, #Blacktown, #Campbelltown, #Goulburn and #Newcastle. ‘[These groups] are unique in that they bring together people who are like-minded, had similar experiences, live with mental health issues, suicide attempts and suicidal thoughts and are able to talk in an open forum ...but within very small, closed groups,’ Irene said. If you would like to find out more, click here: https://being.org.au/suicide-support-awareness-program/ If you need help now, there are crisis services available 24/7. Call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Suicide Call Back Service 1300 659 467
