18.01.2022 Today we ran a virtual 10k #runrona. At the start of the year one of the goals set for the lovely Roz was to get back to running after a nasty accident. And with much patience and determination, she gave it a pretty good go today. Inspired, Shan jumped at the chance to join- after not that long ago being very anxious at the thought of a 10k race. My answer was a glib ‘for Garmin badges’ But in all reality as I dragged myself out the door this evening feeling tired I compiled my why list- it always starts with because I feel awesome when it’s done. It also includes because I can! I’m not stuck in traffic, I’m lucky I can be out running. I’m not sick in bed, I’m so lucky to be out running. My body is still strong enough. 08.01.2022 Mobility focus today is shoulders. Limited range of motion can impact so many exercises and cause all sorts of pain and headaches Thos is a great drill, both to test your own ROM and to improve it also. Stand with your back to a wall, points of contact; lower back, shoulder blades elbows and fingertips. Whilst maintaining these contacts, slowly raise your arms overhead until your fingertips touch (if possible). 07.01.2022 Working on a routine for warm up and post stretch for bike days. I’m a runner, and I have a regular warm up/ mobility/ activation drill- and I use it whether I run 2k with the boys or 10 on my own. However I have been hit and miss with pre ride work. Today I made a point of rolling through a few sets of frogs- awesome to get movement through hips, upper and lower back, hamstrings, calves and ankles! After this I didn’t feel like I needed much else- hits all the areas you need So if you’re ever at a loss - throw in frogs Even took the time to stretch after today #zuu #frogs #strongerthanyesterday #bikeday #mobility #moveyourbody #bikekitisnotagoodlook



06.01.2022 Why does mobility matter? Functional movement. Take your squat movement- the lower two pics are the difference between a half squat and a regular squat. Ankle mobility(or lack of) could be the difference between hitting your depth or not, having enough power to lift the weight or not, being limited due to pain or not. I became very aware of ankle mobility during yoga! Think of base movement such as downward facing dog- are tight calves preventing your heels touching the ground thereby reducing range of motion in the ankle joint?? Focus today either during your warmup or a mobility drill. If your ankles are problematic chances are the higher up you travel through your knees, hips& lower back, pain you experience in those areas could be related #mobility #yogaeveryday #strongerthanyesterday #ankles #moveyourbody
