22.01.2022 In Singapore they have built an Eco-Link to re-connect two nature reserves that were separated when a Freeway was built. The bridge provides safe passage for animals, increasing their habitats, gene pool and chance of survival. There are plans for more of these bridges with over 3000 native trees planted on this one alone. What can you do to help increase animals habitats? 15.01.2022 This one is particularly special to us. When Cam was first diagnosed, he made a choice to continue living his best life, rather than just waiting for his life to inevitably end. He made plans and booked trips and started things he knew he might never finish! He navigated the line between living like there was no tomorrow, but planning for one anyway incredibly, and there were so many adventures and experiences he would have missed out on if he didnt maintain the hope of one ...more day, one more week, one more year. There were lots of things he didnt get finished. But there were heaps that he did, and there were loads that he started for us to carry forward. This is our definition of a life well lived! 10.01.2022 There have been a lot of political and controversial posts and articles lately about the burning and deforestation in the Amazon and the impact it is having on the communities, wildlife and economy. This short video from a BBC documentary explains the science around the importance of the Amazon in preventing climate change, and the impact of deforestation (whether by fire or chainsaws) and the release of carbon into the atmosphere. Dr Berenger says "Once its gone, its gon...e." What this also means is "Once its gone, WERE gone." 04.01.2022 When Cameron suggested that people could plant a tree if they wanted to do something to celebrate his life, it was easy to offer people a small sapling to plant in his memory. When he told us, Actually, I think kindness and tree planting are the answers to almost every question, we thought this was a magnificent message to share, given his years of tireless work to create a kinder world and his history of environmental advocacy. When we asked people to share photos of thei...r trees, we didnt plan to start a movement. Eight months on, it seems so obvious that Be Kind. Plant Trees would become a massive part of his legacy as a branch of ImpossibleCo. Its been lovely to see everyone coming together to share their tree planting and wonderful stories of reforestation and environmental activism from around the world. Rather than dwelling on the aching loss of Cameron, it makes us smile when we think of how we are all doing him so proud. We are super excited for the big things we are going to make happen in his memory in 2020 and beyond. A very merry Christmas to everyone in our BKPT community. 04.01.2022 We recently spent a great day at the Singapore Botanical Gardens. Established in 1859, the Singapore Botanic Gardens showcases the regions most significant living collection of tropical flora with more than 10,000 types of plants. It was inscribed as Singapores first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. It was very interesting to see these in their store encouraging others to get involved with planting. A novel idea and more useful than a paperweight! ... What do you think about this? Have you seen it in other botanical gardens around the world?
