22.01.2022 Courtyard gardens are often an extension of an open living space in a townhouse. So working out what you are going to do in the space should be considered as part of your renovation. Just because you use a colour inside doesn't mean you should use it outside - in this project using white or grey would have been too stark. At Bec's Mt Coolum renovation, she wanted the fence to disappear and the garden to really pop. Using Dulux Australia Sea Kelp did exactly that and made the garden feel bigger than what it is .

15.01.2022 If you're anything like me then you're good at killing your indoor plants . But they bring an interior to life and clean the air at the same time! Probably even more essential to us all now that so many of us are working from home. So I generally try and select plants that thrive on neglect, with only a few that require more love . Try to put those plants that need extra love in areas you see them all the time so you dont forget about them . Hot tip I got from a nursery - use ice cubes to water plants in pots that don't have a hole in the bottom .

14.01.2022 Its finally here! Before and after of our latest kitchen renovation at Mt Coolum! We love it . The original kitchen was quite dark, so we have changed the colours and reconfigured some of the kitchen cabinetry. Those changes, together with the beautiful new handles and new furniture has changed the space from a dark space to a bright modern coastal home that you never want to leave . Keep an eye out for our upcoming blog post with all the details. Thanks to @rvskitchens for the custom cabinetry and @greencathedral for the custom dining table and chairs .
13.01.2022 Lighting - it can make or break a space and yet it is often overlooked! Make sure you make the most of natural light, and mix task lighting with beautiful pendants to add some interest. In this Peregian Beach project, the kitchen, living and dining is one big open space, so we went with a minimalist pendant above the island bench because we already had two statement pendants in the living space (see yesterday's post). We always use warm white lighting with dimmers. That way your task lighting can then become mood lighting .

07.01.2022 Were super passionate about using mindful design to create beautiful spaces you love to live in, and loving where you live is even more important now that were all spending a lot more time at home! Small spaces can add an extra challenge, so when working out the selections, see if they can serve multiple functions. With the Mt Coolum kitchen renovation, we selected a dining table that is the same height as the kitchen benches. This way the dining table didnt feel like it cluttered the room and it provided extra prep space in the kitchen. Multiple use from a beautiful custom made piece of furniture. 07.01.2022 Using VJ lining board is a great way to break up a space by creating texture and movement. Traditionally used vertically, we placed it horizontally in our Peregian Beach Shack project for a few reasons - It worked with the lines of all the louvre windows and because its a beach house, it represents the horizontal lines of waves in the ocean There are some great products to use both externally and internally, even in your bathroom (just not the shower ).
