21.01.2022 If you’ve ever wondered why you would invest in paying a (certified) bookkeeper, here are some reasons from our association body. Also keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Don’t go cheap because it’s cheap. You may end up paying for it down the track - in more ways than just $$. An accountant once told me they advised their client they shouldn’t be paying less than $60/hr for a bookkeeper.

From March 6th 2020, employers with unpaid Super Guarantee (SG) for quarters between 1 July 1992 and 31 March 2018 can now report and pay those superannuation payments, and NOT incur administration charges or penalties. The unpaid superannuation contributions, once paid during the amnesty, will also be an ALLOWABLE DEDUCTIBLE expense for income tax purposes. This amnesty will end at 11:59 p.m. on 7th September 2020, after which time all legislated charges and penalties will apply as per usual under the Superannuation Guarantee Charge Act 1992. 07.01.2022 Monday 4th will be when you can lodge your first Jobkeeper monthly report which will release the funds for your refund. A couple of the things you have to report is your turnover for April and your expected turnover for May. Please don’t stress about the accuracy of this information. These figures are for statistics only, you won’t be in trouble if they turn out incorrect. ... The Government want to see how well businesses are recovering. They understand you probably won’t have April fully reconciled or may not have knowledge of what sales you’ll have in May, your best estimate will be sufficient. They also have no bearing on you staying eligible- once you are eligible you remain eligible for the 6mths. Any questions give me a call or email. Sorry in advance if response is a bit slower than normal.
