24.01.2022 Thank you, Jan and Basil for your kind words. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at Belbrooke Farms. We have posted your comments below and hope to see you all again at Belbrooke Farms. "Staying at Belbrooke lets you step back in time, to a place where there was a deep quiet, a gentler pace, a sense of identity and community. Chris and Jack are the real deal, they are quintessential farmers with a twist of environmentally sustainable strategies reflected in their enthus...iasm and bloody hard work! If you want to just relax, be still, listen and breathe deeply the peace and harmony, this is the place. The wild landscapes, the breathtaking sunsets, & the privacy is a guarantee. If you want to volunteer to help these hard-working pair and get back to the land, you can do that too. Great place for the kids to run wild and experience real camping on a working cattle property. We are coming back to lend a hand as we felt so very welcomed and genuinely needed. That's a rare gift these days! Thanks for reminding us of why we should all be grateful to live in Australia!"

23.01.2022 There's two times more carbon in the earth's soil than in all of its vegetation and the atmosphere -- combined. Biogeochemist Asmeret Asefaw Berhe dives into the science of soil and shares how we could use its awesome carbon-trapping power to offset climate change. "[Soil] represents the difference between life and lifelessness in the earth system, and it can also help us combat climate change -- if we can only stop treating it like dirt

22.01.2022 I think we should take heed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPPG98yw7-k

19.01.2022 Belbrooke Farms is in the food business. Obviously. Also, less obviously Belbrooke Farms is in the health business. What and how we eat determines how healthy we are. Everybody knows that. Really? Do they? Over the past 50 years, our health has gotten worse, and now 67% of us are overweight or obese. And its not getting better. What is the problem with being overweight? For starters, being overweight increases the risk of many health problems, including diabetes, heart dise...Continue reading

14.01.2022 COVID19 has brought to the surface several community issues which have been bubbling underneath for some time now. I would say well before the Global Financial Crisis in 2007. Although the powers that be would like to talk up how good everybody has got it in Australia compared to the rest of the world, we are going backwards. Not just as a country but around the world. People were stressed before COVID19 now it is getting worse; More and more children are being born with ...Continue reading

13.01.2022 At Belbrooke Farms we are strong believers in using waste to increase the carbon in our soils which assists with reducing CO2 in the atmosphere, mitigating Climate Change. We do this by converting waste into compost which we give to our worms, who create worm castings and worm tea which we put into the soil and spray onto the plants. This invigorates the microbes and fungi who feed the plants and help retain more carbon in the soil. So if you have any plant or animal material you want to throw away send us a Facebook message and we will arrange to get ut picked up. Thank you for helping us to help you.

12.01.2022 Just some great scenes of the place we call home.

09.01.2022 We need to take this seriously.

07.01.2022 Recently we had some campers book to camp at Belbrooke Farms for an over night stay. Being from the city they took a bit of a fright when they were greeted by some of the farm animals. The lady of the couple lodged a formal complaint say their was false advertising and they should have been informed that were were animals at the farm. We acknowledged that we should have sent them a warning notice and allow their themselves and their poodle to be psychologically prepared. We a...t Belbrooke Farms have to improve our communications with the general public. We need to take responsibility to ensure non farm people are aware that a farm usually has animals. However, to our credit our front gate has a sign with a cow and calf on it. I had a meeting with our communications and media people to work out a way that we can communicate in a people-centric, non-threatening and friendly way that Belbrooke Farms like many farms has animals on it. So after some consideration, we employed a composer and lyricist to come up with this ditty. Tell us what you think. Jack and Chris had a farm E-I-E-I-O And on the farm they had a cow E-I-E-I-O With a moo moo here And a moo moo there Here a moo, there a moo Everywhere a moo moo Jack and Chris had a farm E-I-E-I-O Jack and Chris had a farm E-I-E-I-O And on the farm they had some pigs E-I-E-I-O With a oink oink here And a oink oink there Here a oink, there a oink Everywhere a oink oink Jack and Chris had a farm E-I-E-I-O Jack and Chris had a farm E-I-E-I-O And on the farm they had a horse E-I-E-I-O With a neigh neigh here And a neigh neigh there Here a neigh, there a neigh Everywhere a neigh neigh Jack and Chris had a farm E-I-E-I-O Jack and Chris had a farm E-I-E-I-O And on the farm, they had some chickens E-I-E-I-O With a cluck cluck here And a cluck cluck there Here a cluck, there a cluck Everywhere a cluck cluck With a baa baa here With a neigh neigh here And a neigh neigh there Here a neigh, there a neigh Everywhere a neigh neigh With a oink oink here And a oink oink there Here a oink, there a oink Everywhere a oink oink With a moo moo here And a moo moo there Here a moo, there a moo Everywhere a moo moo I think we should send the ditty with every booking confirmation to let campers know that like many farms we have farm animals.

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon. Paul, Gill and Donut

06.01.2022 The December 2019/ January 2020 bushfires around the country have caused injury and death, destroyed homes, killed and maimed wildlife, destroyed trees and vegetation, but that is not the full story. Those clouds of smoke is carbon entering the atmosphere, increasing global warming and damaging the environment. More so, we need that carbon to grow food. So, what can you do to bring that carbon back: 1. Planting trees is not the answer (although retaining heritage forests do...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Did you get a chance to watch the ABC's Australian Story on Charles Massy? If you didn't, watch it on ABC's IView. It's about Regenerative Farming which is the type of farming we at Belbrooke Farms practice. In this Australian Story episode, Charles talks about his personal farming experience and how he changed to Regenerative Farming which improves the farm’s ecology and simultaneously makes his farming operation economically sustainable. He exposes the failures of industr...ial agriculture and the global profit-obsessed corporations driving it. He shows how innovative farmers are finding a new way, regenerating their land and witnessing astounding transformations. Evocatively, he captures what it truly means to live in connection with the land. Charles offers a clear vision of a sustainable future for our food supply, our landscape, our health, and our Earth. It offers hope and a powerful affirmation of our potential for change. Now is the time for a grassroots change in our thinking about how conventional farmers operate and why consumers should be serious about knowing where their food comes from.

02.01.2022 Previously, I talked about my 10 things you personally can to do combat Climate Change. In one of those 10 points, I talked about using worms in your garden. In this ABC Gardening Australia episode, it explains how a commercial nursery grows worms to improve the production and quality of the flowers they grow. The ideas in this episode apply to all plants.

01.01.2022 Thank you to all our campers who donated their empty bottles and cans for recycling. We received $114. For that we are able to rescue 11 loads of mulch from the Esk Dump’s Landfill and use it to increase the organic carbon in our soil. This will assist in plant growth which will further reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Once again Thank You
