25.01.2022 This is a great way to learn more about our environment and get some exercise in as well.

24.01.2022 Australia Post has confirmed it will step down letter services across Canberra until at least the middle of next year. All residential postcodes will change to ...letters delivered every second business day, or five times a fortnight. Parcel delivery, PO boxes, and express post will continue to be delivered five days a week. However, the express post guarantee will no longer cover a single-day timeframe. The measures have come into place due to an increased number of parcels being ordered across the country, with many posties being retrained to meet the demand.

23.01.2022 The Sausage Sizzle has returned to Bunnings. Today there was an older Greek couple and the husband wanted to get a sausage sandwich but his wife told him they had to pay for their purchases first. He looked so disappointed. He was adorable. This was at Belconnen.

20.01.2022 We have been notified by Parks and Conservation Service (PCS) that there has been illegal trails and jumps being built in Bruce Ridge. Bruce is a part of the Ca...nberra Nature Park and is home to a range of rare and threatened species. Bruce Ridge and the surrounding area have many registered Aboriginal cultural heritage sites, an indication of the area's importance to the Ngunnawal people. It is important that we manage the bike trails in partnership with the land managers. We want the trails to be sustainable and respect the conservation needs of the area. Building illegal trails harms our ability to grow the trail network. We understand that building and riding jumps is terrific fun. We are in discussions with PCS about the future possibility of a pump track and jump line in the area. This will require good will and agreement from PCS. Illegal trails undermine these efforts. We are keen to add extra features to the current trails. Get in touch and give us your ideas. Come along on a trail day and help out. So, please, please, no building of jumps and trails.

19.01.2022 Kippax! Work is now underway to include our local shopping centre in the city-wide roll out of free public wi-fi. The rollout of free wi-fi is creating more j...obs and supporting local businesses, particularly smaller businesses in our town centres and local shopping precincts. As part of this rollout, the download limit is also being increased from 250MB to 1GB per day per device to allow people to browse the internet for around 12 hours, stream 200 songs or watch two hours of video. During COVID-19, internet access has been particularly vital, with the ACT Government providing free internet access to around 600 ACT public school students studying from home who did not already have access. Also coming soon is the Belconnen Basketball Centre, Hawker Group Centre, Jamison and Kaleen Group Centre!

Great news, Libraries ACT have given us the go-ahead to re-commence JP services, with the Erindale, Civic and Belconnen l...ibraries the first to kick off. From 8th October, Belconnen library will re-commence services every Thursday 11am to 1pm From 10 October, Erindale library will re-commence every Saturday from 11amto 1pm From Monday 12 October, Civic library will re-commence every Monday from 12 noon to 2pm You will need to register your details upon entry for contact tracing purposes and if you are experiencing any symptoms, we ask that you do not attend a signing centre. Our signing desk on Level 3, Westfield Belconnen will also re-commence on Saturday 10 October from 11am to 1pm

The only ACT Town Centre to be recognised and confirming our status as the Jewel in Canberra’s Crown for the people of this great district! My friends in Willowbrook Estate will be so pleased we’ve usurped their spot in history and on the board. I’ll be sending them this edition to share around the neighbourhood and Southwark will never be the same!
