19.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS! We're one step close to Google staying right where it is. (Whether you agree to paying for news or not). Bel.
15.01.2022 Have you seen in the news this week Google’s threat to switch off their search engine in Australia over proposed legislation to level the playing field and support some news publishing companies in Australia. It’s interesting to not that you have to be a big player to be eligible for payments under the proposed legislation. It’s complicated and I’mthat some common sense prevails in the end. Failing that, Bing might just become our new best friend. Here’s a good explaine...r article. It will be interesting to watch this space to see how this all plays out. Bel.
10.01.2022 Got to love a client that loves an ! when it comes to giving a compliment, the perfect way to end the day. Bel.
05.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day The women who I love and admire for their strength and grace did not get hat way because shit worked out. They got that way because shit went wrong, and they handled it. They handled in a thousand different ways, but they handled it. Those women are my superheroes. Bel.
05.01.2022 When it comes to cyclones we like to be as prepared as possible. This usual means stocking up on essentials including diesel for our backup generator. We bring all our belongings inside, remove our boat from the water, batten down the hatches and then keep our eye on all the weather pages and apps until the cyclone comes and passes. Oh, that and cook all up a storm (pardon the pun). All the time with our fingers crossed that all is ok for everyone in the cyclone’s path. ... This weekend is one of those weekends. Thankfully Cyclone Ana doesn’t look like it’s going to be a big one, though flooding looks like it’s going to be our biggest issue. The ground is already saturated so the time it takes to flood will be a lot less, some areas are already flooded. On top our recent Cyclone Yasa and a year of COVID another cyclone is the last thing that Fiji needs. Thankfully our backup generator makes the situation much better for us, sadly not everyone is as fortunate. Just like a back up for a website makes life a whole lot better when shit gets real. Like the Google Ads client I had who didn’t pay his website hosting (not with me) bill and lost his entire website as a result....but that’s a story for another day. If you have a website no matter it’s purpose, business or personal. Make sure you have a backup procedure. Do not rely on your website host even if they say they do it. You still have to get your files from them in the event you need them. Install a backup plugin - then configure it! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen an installed backup plugin but not configured. Make sure the plugin allows you to setup an automated external backup. Set your website back up to happen automatically and then to save to Dropbox or Google Drive. You’ll never have to remember to do the backup and you’ll always have access to the file should you ever need it. How long since your website was backed up? Happy weekend, happy baking, stay safe until we saddle up to do it all again next week. Bel.
