Over the 8 years we have helped out approximately 4000 amazing clients to walk better and feel better! There are just THREE important tips in the video below that will help you determine the best shoe that works for you!... Check them out briefly below or for more detail with Ranna in Episode 2! 1. The fit of the shoe must be right for YOU! Ensure you can wiggle your toes & spread them out just a little bit without touching the tip or the side of the shoe! Pinch the front of the shoe just a little bit to ensure there is room for your toes. Check that the curves of the shoe are not cutting into your ankle bones! Ensure that the overall size of the shoe is appropriate for your foot & that there is a THUMB-width of space at the front of the shoe from your LONGEST TOE! 2. 09.01.2022 HEEL PAIN | Calcaneal Apophysitis in children is a common condition that we treat successfully at Belfield Podiatry. Children between 7-14 years are commonly affected. Calcaneal apophysitis is inflammation of the growth plate in the heel. Repetitive stress on these areas due to increased activity levels and biomechanical issues will cause pain and inflammation. If your child begins to limp or walks on tip toes and has difficulty in participating in sports then here are 3 tips... for you: 1. Reduce activity levels: It is important to understand that overuse and repetitive stress exacerbates the heel pain. We need to reduce and moderate a childs physical activity to allow the inflammation to subside. 2. Footwear features to support the heel: Ensure a shoe has a good heel counter and heel cup with lots of cushioning! Avoid being barefoot, flip flops and unsupportive footwear. 3. 08.01.2022 MORTONS NEUROMA | Walking on a pebble is so painful and sometimes thats EXACTLY what it feels like. Mortons neuroma is a problem that occurs commonly between the 3rd and 4th toes. There can be tingling, numbness or burning sensations in the ball of the foot. -- If this relates to you, follow the 3 things below that YOU can do RIGHT NOW:... 1. Get yourself into wide, deep shoes with enough space in the toe box so as to wiggle your toes around. AVOID squashing your toes in your shoes! This will cause a lot of irritation of the compressed nerve. 2. Footwear such as a jogger or a medical grade shoe that provides support at the heel counter and in the arch.
