25.01.2022 Just a reminder....



25.01.2022 AFL Program Prep students will be collected by Mrs Ballinger at 3pm and taken to the CPA every Tuesday. Parents are to collect their child at 4:15pm from the main drop and go zone. They will be supervised by AFL staff. Unfortunately parents are not allowed on site.

24.01.2022 TCC has advised there will be a controlled burning on The Strand side of Castle Hill tomorrow between 9:00am and 5:00pm. If any of our BG Community suffers from asthma or a respiratory condition please take any precautions necessary.

24.01.2022 Don’t forget tomorrow is Bike Day for the year 6 students. A great opportunity to fine tune those skills before camp next term. Make sure your notes are returned, and if you want bring your bike.

21.01.2022 Year 6 Camp Update: Sam Stedman of Outer Limits Adventure Centre will be conducting a parent information session in our school hall Wednesday, July 22 @ 6pm. Parents/carers of Year 6 students are invited to attend. All in attendance will be required to socially distance and staggered seating and standing space will be provided. ... We will also be live streaming and recording the session on our Facebook page.

21.01.2022 Unfortunately, due to the evolving nature of COVID-19 our book week parade, originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been moved to Term 4 on October 16th. Fingers crossed that restrictions ease and we are able to have parents join us for the event. More information will be forthcoming as we get closer to the parade date. Thank you for your continued understanding.

21.01.2022 It was a wonderful day to be 'Reading in the Rainforest'! We had visits from butterflies and Mr. Snell put up our new hanging chairs that were purchased by the money raised from our Containers for Change scheme!

18.01.2022 Our Year 6’s had a challenging, yet fun time navigating our drone ‘red bull’ course. Some teams were very successful and had learned a lot about coding their drones from the unit where they photographed simulated disaster zones!

The voluntary contribution cannot be invoiced through the school accounting process, however payments for the voluntary contribution are made and receipted by the school (same as in previous years). Students are required to bring their other uniforms for the extracurricular activity photos. Attached you will find the timetable for the photos. We have had to amend the timetable previously posted due to some clashes with some Year 6 students. The new timetable is below.

14.01.2022 PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR AUNTY PEACH. We have been informed this morning by the presenter that the Aunty Peach Show has been cancelled for this term. The performer is unable to leave NSW due to COVID restrictions. Restrictions allowing we are hoping to reschedule the show for Term 4. Payments made to date will be credited to students accounts.

13.01.2022 Great news BG! Our very own Street Library has gone up.... A massive thank you to our wonderful BG mum Cherie Stuart for the magnificent art work and design on... the Library. And a big High Five to Mr Snell for installing it this week.. The Street Library is located just past the year 1 block on the way to the Rainforest. Students can collect or exchange a book on their way to do some quiet reading in our beautiful rainforest area. The only thing missing now are the BOOKS! If you would like to donate or share a book please send one along with your child to place in the Library.. Thank you for supporting our P&C, it's projects like these that remind us of what a wonderful community we have. See more

08.01.2022 Last Thursday we had our first day for Green STEM. Students from Belgian Gardens SS, Hermit Park SS, Railway Estate SS, Currajong SS, Bluewater SS and Ingham SS are participating in this four day extension program. Day 1 activities included team building/ getting to know each other challenges, drawing a life size humpback whale, video conference with Tangoroa Blue, learning about sea turtles, ozobot coding and planning a group presentation on marine debris. The day was a great opportunity for students to be creative, critical thinkers, collaborators and communicators.

08.01.2022 Our brave Ava Finn is shaving her head on Wednesday during our Silver Certificate Parade. So far, Ava has raised over $3300 for a young man with cancer. Such a kind, compassionate and caring thing to do. Well done Ava! If you would like to support Ava's cause, please bring in a gold coin donation on Wednesday and give it to your teacher. Ava thanks you for any support you can give her!

07.01.2022 Well parents we missed you on the day! It just wasn't the same without you helping cheer our students on! Although you couldn't be there our little athletes knew you were tugging on their heart strings. Below we tried to capture our sprints so you can at least cheer your child on at home. There will be no names and no faces to maintain media sensitivity. The age group will identify what races appear in the comment boxes below. ... Keep an eye out for when the races begin to upload.

05.01.2022 Amazing sisters Gabrielle and Rachael created an endangered animal cake. The cake shows a black throated finch in its natural habitat (a bird we breed at school). The whole cake is edible. The finch is made out of fondant. Tasty and creative. Great work girls!

02.01.2022 5B went on their Rowes Bay Junior Ranger trip today. They removed 653 pieces of rubbish from the beach and picnic table areas. The two biggest rubbish offenders were cigarette butts(292) and plastic(190). The class finished the day off with some amazing sand sculptures.

02.01.2022 5A Rowes Bay Junior Rangers working hard to keep the Great Barrier Reef free of marine debris. Sadly students picked up 1094 pieces of rubbish from the beach, mangroves and picnic tables. Biggest rubbish offenders were 329 pieces of plastic, 274 Cigarette butts, 112 pieces of glass and 124 pieces of paper. Well done 5A on making a difference for the environment.
