21.01.2022 Spring is upon us. That wonderful time of year where flowers are blooming, birds are chirping, warmer days followed by a thunderstorm. We are heading into the peak time of the year for Thunderstorm Asthma. Now is the right time to give us a call and arrange an asthma review to make sure your medications and action plans are doing the best possible job for you. Don't put it off. Here are some wonderful free apps to help you manage your asthma effectively. The first one ...comes from Asthma Australia and is a great educational tool. It includes first aid advice and technique videos on how to use your inhaler devices plus more. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details The second is a straightforward first aid assistance tool for managing an asthma attack. This is a great one for grandparents or occasional carers who may not be familiar with dealing with an attack. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details Lastly is the daily pollen count from the University of Melbourne. This one can help you assess your daily risk and take the appropriate precautions. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details

21.01.2022 Attention Patients. We want to assure you that we are endeavoring to take every precaution to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff. We are asking patients to please call us from your car on arrival and we will direct you on when to enter the waiting room. We want to avoid patients waiting in a confined space as much as possible. ... We also want to stress the importance on notifying us if you are presenting with cough, sore throat, fever or other flu like symptoms, have recently returned from overseas travel or have had contact with someone who has had a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. We are working towards using a comprehensive Telehealth system to consult with as many patients as possible, and are making accommodations to provide care to our at risk patients without them being present in the clinic. These added measures are adding an extra layer of complexity to our administration. We kindly ask that you be patient with our staff. We are doing our best, but things may take a little longer than usual. We are working hard to keep you all safe. Thank you from everyone at BHRMC

17.01.2022 As we start getting back to normal here at BHRMC, we wanted to thank all of our amazing patients for you understanding, kindness and patience through this difficult time. Our doors and waiting room are now open, but due to the size of our waiting room we can only have a very limited number of people inside. We still ask that most patients wait in their car. Please continue to inform our staff if you are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms, so we can take adequate precautio...ns. We are performing COVID-19 swabs, but only to screen those with mild symptoms. Anyone with heavy symptoms should continue to present to a local fever clinic. Once again we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Keep up the good work!

16.01.2022 Dementia affects almost 1 in 10 people in Australia over the age of 65. Dementia can’t be cured, but people can reduce their chances of developing it. To support people to reduce their risk of dementia, BHRMC is taking part in The Umbrella Project from February to April 2020. During this time, you might be invited to complete a short 2-minute survey in the waiting room about healthy behaviours. Your doctor or nurse will then provide you with tailored advice and support. The project was developed at the University of Melbourne by Ms Kali Godbee as part of her PhD research. You might see Kali sitting in our waiting room be sure to say hi!
