23.01.2022 Such an amazing initiative clothing can help change the way we feel about ourselves. At least provide the comfort, style and safety for someone. As a stylist I have helped provide clothing to women in need and supported their steps towards employment. The transformation I’ve witnessed in these experiences are truly amazing. So if you have that pile of clothes that you no longer wear, they can make a difference here. My suggestion would be to choose the best quality and donate them pre washed. Also clothing needs to be practical for the environment which these people are in. Be mindful of the amounts donated too as storage of excess clothes creates a hindrance for the volunteers providing the service. There needs to be more services like this one, I hope more follow this path :)

19.01.2022 Monday Motivation ask yourself Why before you Buy. Shopping is up there on our list of addictions. The term ‘Shopaholic’ is used to describe a person that is addicted to how their brain feels while shopping. Endorphins and dopamine are released from the brain, giving a rush of pleasure and overtime these feeling become addictive. Online shopping has created a bigger monster No need to go anywhere and delivered straight to your door. It’s as exciting as Presents on your b...irthday. You now have your new thing and the exact item in 3 different colours because it was on sale and you got free shipping if you spent over a certain amount. What a bargain! Unfortunately, you will most probably only wear one of these items and soon forget the other 2 exist. They will become part of the increasing large pile of unworn clothes taking up the dark corners of your wardrobe. A mess of unsatisfying fashion and a wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear. WHAT YOU CAN DO -take a moment and ask yourself Why you need to buy something. Is it a want or a need? -Is there room in your wardrobe for your new item? -Do you own something already that you can re-love rather than throw away -WHY do you need Retail Therapy? -Get a Wardrobe Workout instead discover the hidden gems amongst your clothes and find new ways of combining outfits with what you have. -Repair, re-use, recycle Become your own style, look inward for the inspiration of what to wear to compliment who you are. Stop shopping for your dopamine and feel better knowing that saving your money is also saving the environment and the people making your clothes. #boycottfashion #slowfashion #sustainablestylist #sustainablestylistbyronbay #imageconsultant #fashionfast #wardrobeconsultantbyronbay #discoveryourstyle #whomademyclothes #thriftshopping #opshopstyle See more

16.01.2022 To commemorate the 1129 garment workers who died during the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh in 2013, Fashion Revolution Week is an annual campaign ran each April calling for greater transparency, sustainability and ethics in the fashion industry. This year RMIT will run an expo of events demonstrating different ways people can participate in Fashion Revolution Week. Come and catch my presentation form 1-1:45 at Conscious closet Pop-Up shop. 16.01.2022 We are in a climate and ecological emergency. If we don’t act now, we will face mass food shortages, the collapse of our civilization and extinction. We can no longer afford to use land to grow crops to produce textiles, or to extract oil to produce synthetic fibers and pollute the air and water. There is now only one way for the fashion industry to be sustainable-stop pointless consumption and say no to virgin resources and fossil fuels. We must use what we’ve already got, r...egenerate the natural world, and envision cultural and economic systems based on the well-being of people and planet. Fashion is not to die for. Join me in saying no to new clothing and yes to life on earth. This is a 52 week fashion boycott, in which together, we radically change our relationship with clothes. 05.01.2022 Friday Fashion Fact I remember buying second hand all ready worn and ripped Levi’s in the early 90’s. I loved the grunge vibe and the comfort of softened denim. Each pair was unique in its wear and tear. They cost $50. Fast forward 10 years and a trend took to the fashion world that I never understood... Designer mass produced ripped and worn in jeans. The same wear and tear on each pair, nothing unique about them. A price tag sometimes up to $350 for a mass produced wear... and tear. CRAZY!!!! Now thanks to faster fashion, you can get the same ripped jeans as everyone else for a fraction of that price. Unfortunately this fashion trend is costing so much more than the price tag. Many more chemicals are being used for this and more water is wasted. Here is some information https://www.ecowatch.com/environmental-cost-jeans-254451965 A powerful documentary to watch is this https://www.google.com/search?q=riverblue So what can you do to help??? DIY Your distressed denim Get you favorite pair of jeans, find some sandpaper and get sanding. It takes no more than a little bit of manual energy and you can create your very own personal worn in effect. Unique to your creativity and style. Save the water and save the human slavery from mass producing this weird fashion trend. Thank you #byronbayslowfashion #boycottfashion #fashionfast #rippedjeans #imageconsultantbyronbay #loveyourclothes #savethewater #personalstylistbyronbay See more

03.01.2022 Are you ever unsure about how sustainable & ethical a brand actually is? Especially now with so many companies greenwashing their products it has become more &... more difficult to determine how much a brand actually cares about their employees and the environment. A big part of conscious choices means doing your own research & we are here to help. These are 4 tips that we use when trying to evaluate different brands. We recommend checking out the certifications of the brand, looking at the brands website, finding out what materials their clothing is made out of & what the brand uses to package their clothes. Though this cannot give you the whole picture as to how sustainable a brand actually is, it is definetly a place to start. If you have any more tips that you would like to share please comment them down below ! We hope you’re all enjoying slow fashion season & we hope this makes your slow fashion season even better!
