24.01.2022 And just like that, its school holidays again! Is it just me or did term 2 go really quickly? One minute I was rejoicing at the kids being allowed to go back to school and the next Im planning school holidays again! I want to share with you one of our day trips we did this week. I saw a post pop up in my feed of 2 characters who are very familiar to me these days. Although, with a 6 year old, practically anything thats in the form of a cartoon is familiar to me As you ca...n see in the pic, theyre Bluey and Bingo of Bluey fame! Inquisitive me read the post and discovered they were only 1.5 hours away from where we live! Bonus! So, I promptly planned one of our day trips which was to visit Bluey and Bingo (aka the most famous hay bales in QLD ) just outside of Beaudesert. Yup - these two are made from hay bales and buckets. So darn clever! I got to tell you though, I really love this! And not for the fact theyre Bluey and Bingo (which is pretty cool), but for the simple reason that these 2 famous characters are standing in front of a farm stay that had been affected by the COVID tourism stand still. With no one checking in, they needed to keep their business in the spotlight. And what better way than to create 2 characters that are guaranteed to make your posts go viral. They have created hashtags and people are posting their pics left right and centre of their kids visits to Bluey and Bingo at Stay At Kirro. They may only be there for a short time, but they will make a lasting impression on many families looking for a unique little getaway. I'm actually all for DIY and learning to do it yourself if that's what fits both you and your business best. After all, that's how I started out! There's just a few things to remember when DIYing though. Like laying a new deck for the first time, what looks easy at Bunnings isn't always as it seems. I've noted a couple of DIY mistakes that I see a lot and how to avoid them. 24.01.2022 #ruokday2020 Asking someone how they are is something I try to do everyday. My emails always start with "How are you?" This isn't a throw away line, I'm genuinely keen to make sure the person I am emailing is ok. It's also a good breaker and can create a bit of conversation. This year more than ever it's important to remember to ask people if they are ok. When things are really crappy, people tend to go into their shells because they don't want to be a burden. Especiall...y if things are crappy world wide like they are right now. It's easy to keep thing to ourselves because we don't want to burden anyone else when they are struggling too. Or worse, we think our problems aren't as bad as someone else's so we let them be. The thing about that is it can grow. What you're feeling may not be as bad as someone who has lost their job or can't pay their bills. BUT what you are going through is bad for you. It's still eating you up and affecting your mental health. Just because it might not seem so big in comparison, it's still a big deal if it's affecting your mental health. So, remember to ask R u Ok? if you sense someone might not be ok. Or even if they seem ok, deep down they might still be struggling. Have a great day and stay strong. #ruok #ruok2020

22.01.2022 So I hear there was a little Facey scare this morning! Did you heart skip a beat or 10?? I was having a rare day off with my family and didn't even realise until my husband told me. In fact, I didn't even log onto Facebook until this very moment. The website brain in me started thinking how on earth you can have a world wide outage That's one epic failure!... BUT... Then my brain went into business mode and though about the flow on effects for pretty much every business in the world. What if those 6 hours turned into 6 days? Place 1: Theyre trying to home-school a tribe of kids while running their business and trying to keep the house sanitised, deodorised and said tribe watered and fed. 05.01.2022 #Divi Theme Users - IMPORTANT MESSAGE I just wanted to quickly share a security risk that was just emailed to me this morning via WordFence. There was a security threat detected in the Elegant Themes themes Divi and Extra that gave hackers an entry point into some websites on vulnerable servers. Fortunately, ET are very pro active and have rectified the issue with a theme update released a couple of days ago.... Website owners who have their websites managed by me on the website management plans need not worry as the patch update has already been completed on your site and sites checked. Please log in to your websites if you are on Divi or Extra themes or using the Divi Builder as a stand alone page builder and complete the updates immediately.

03.01.2022 #WebsiteShare I love it when clients come back to me after a year or two or three for more work. Its refreshing to know Ive built some great relationships. I was contacted only 2 weeks ago by a lovely client of two years ago to create a new website for her husbands Heating and Cooling business. Theyre on Facebook and keeping busy with word of mouth jobs, but definitely needed an website presence to grow their customer base and generate new leads.... Theyre requirements were for a simple one-page website that was on-brand so they had a destination to send their new leads and traffic from Google and tradie boards. One page websites arent as common, but theyre a great starting point to get information to your customers and create call to actions to generate leads. Call to action buttons on a one page website would be a phone call or enquiry submission. They can work well for tradie businesses where a lot of assessing and discussion is done on the phone with the customer. Anyway, as "quick" was the brief, the website was up and running in a week. 03.01.2022 Its a conundrum... Being a little grade 1, my son is now back at school. But now hes back, Im having the internal battle between "I miss him and I should have done better" thoughts mixed with the "thank goodness I have 5 quiet minutes to reorganise my work life again" thoughts.
