17.01.2022 Today I was fortunate to be picking the biggest and most delicious apricots from my lovely old apricot tree at home. It got me thinking about time. In this time of instant gratification, how often do we think about the efforts we put in today and how they will affect us, our kids or grandkids and even the world in 3 years, 10 years and even 50 years from now? I'm so grateful someone many years ago planted the "seed" for what is now a beautiful big and enormously produ...ctive apricot tree. And I am fortunate enough to reap the benefits of their fore thought. In the words of a Chiropractic pioneer "We never know how far reaching something we may think, say or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow." At this time where there is a lot of fear and uncertainty, taking the time to find things to be grateful for is more important than ever. In 3 weeks of regular gratitude practice, benefits include: More optimism and happiness More positive emotions... People are more helpful, compassionate, generous and forgiving People feel less isolated and lonely Sleep better and feel more refreshed Are less bothered by aches and pains Have stronger immune systems Have lower blood pressure Gratitude isn't going to stop you getting the corona virus however, we know that 80% of people who do contract corona virus suffer only mild symptoms similar to a cold or mild flu so ... why not do everything you can to support your immune system so if you do 'catch' the corona virus, you are much more likely to be in the 80%. 11.01.2022 I this quote! Every day at work I hear people say "it must be just because I'm getting old you know" (even at 35 years of age!). It is incredibly easy to pass things off as 'old age' but by doing this we reduce ourselves to victims of time. People say things like "I forget people's names because I'm getting old" or, "I guess I have to expect some pain - I'm getting older now". This makes me so sad because these things are soooo changeable if you take action on the...m early. Did you know you can change your brain at any age? The earlier you start taking action, the easier this is and the less likely you are to have the so called 'age related brain changes' we have come to expect as 'normal parts of ageing'. It is never too late to improve your brain! Simple things like self discipline especially around eating fresh, natural foods, avoiding sugar and exercising regularly can make a huge difference to the health of your brain. A really good quality and high dose fish oil can be another great helper in improving your brain and joint health and slowing the ageing process. One of the strongest predictors of how healthy someone will be as they age is their view on ageing - what you think about you bring about.
