He looked so lonely, all caged up, and looked like he really needed a loving home, and who better to adopt him than Justin from Bella Bird Boarding who has been labelled the Bird Whisperer. JAMIE was untamed and a little rebel. 05.01.2022 The Story of Stevie, our pet Dove. Please COMMENT and not just 'like' the post. Over a year ago, following a major storm in Sydney, my husband, Justin, found an egg that had fallen of a tree in our back yard and right next to it, lay a helpless, frightened tiny little baby dove. Off course, Justin would bring it in without thinking twice. We named him Stevie (after Stevie Wander) because he was inquisitive and alert and always wandering around. Justin weaned him by feeding ...him with a syringe everyday. When he was healthy and strong enough to fend for himself, Stevie flew away and Justin didn't sleep that night. But Stevie returned the following day and flew right into the house. Now Stevie is released everyday but comes home every evening for his dinner, spends time at home and flys away if he feels like it. If he does feel like spending the night with us he sleeps on top of Niki' s cage, where he knows his food and water is always kept. Now Justin leaves food & water on our balcony where it is always readily available in the event we are busy or not at home. This photo was taken over the Christmas break which Stevie spent with us.
