Each garment in our Middle East Collection has been made from the traditional headscarf material of the Middle East (keffiyeh), traditionally worn by the Bedouin, the Middle Easts nomadic desert dwellers. Empowered women, empower womenand supporting mama makers in marginalised parts of their world is a cause I am very passionate about.... The women I source from, create beautiful hand-made pieces with love from their homes. No factories, no harsh working conditions, just the love of producing their craft which has been passed down from generation to generation, all while being able to support their family. No two pieces are exactly the same. Unique, just like we are. Ethical fashion in all its glory. A little about me- I have a young family...a daughter (Bella) whos 19-months-old (a.k.a the boss of the house) and a son (Alex) who is typical dirt loving threenager. But sometimes in life, if we just slow down, we can see some things are worth waiting for. Most people dont realise the pain and suffering that goes into fast fashion. Imagine earning 51 cents an hour. Imagine being separated from your child because you need to earn that 51 cents an hour in order to buy food for your child. This is ...reality for some of the overseas garment workers who supply clothes for massive, multimillionaire retailers right here in Australia. Its expensive to buy ethical. It really is. But if you buy less, make it last, stop treating clothes as disposable items, over the long run it could definitely work out cheaper. The point is to start doing what you can do. Be a conscious buyer and start asking more questions. Who made my clothes? How long did it take? What methods were used? Education is power.
