06.01.2022 Bellarine Home Services Carpet Cleaning steps to clean your carpets thoroughly and carpet cleaning Information Steps 1.Pre-Vacuum: The carpet is thoroughly vacuumed to remove dry soiling using a commercial vacuum with a hepa filter. Did you know - Dry soiling makes up to 80% of the soiling in carpet and if it is not vacuumed then it is washing the soiling back through the carpet.... 2.Carpet testing - Test is done to identify carpet fiber 3.Pre-spray: Appropriate pre-spray (detergent) is selected and sprayed at high temperature onto the carpet. 4.Agitation: The pre-spray is agitated (scrubbed) into the carpet fiber. Example - if you put soap on your hands and don’t scrub, then rinse with water not much soiling will be removed. 5.Hot Water Extraction Spraying heated water at pressure onto the carpet, while simultaneously vacuuming the sprayed water along with the soiling. Did you know people get this confused with steam cleaning due to the visible vapors when Hot Water Extraction is done. 6.Grooming: Carpet pile is set in one direction to help speed up drying process. The biggest question I get is how long does it take to dry Drying time depends on a lot of factors a) Air Flow - As much air flow as possible will help the carpet to dry a lot faster eg. open windows, ceiling fans, pedestal fans. b) Carpet fibers - Wool holds more moisture than synthetic carpets which takes it longer to dry. c) Temperature - High humidity (moisture in the air) can make the dry time extend. d) Heaters - Can make the dry time longer as it creates moisture in the air. If the property is closed up there will be lots of moisture in the air with nowhere to escape and the leftover moisture in the carpet has nowhere to go.
