24.01.2022 As Stage 3 Restrictions roll back into Geelong, we want to reassure you that we will be here for your pets. Even during the Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne, Veterinary Services are deemed to be Essential Health Services. There are no limits placed on how far you can travel to seek care for your pet. We take yours and your pet's safety very seriously, along with the safety of our staff. In addition to following all the DHHS Health directives for operating a business, we have... been providing contactless veterinary care continuously since April and we appreciate your support as we try to keep everyone safe whilst giving your pets the care they need. This contactless service will continue for health care and grooming, but Puppy Preschool Group classes will be suspended and move to an online format with a private face to face session to follow. What we need from you is this: - To follow all the public health directives (ie social distancing, wearing a mask, washing/sanitising your hands) - To let us know if you or any member of your household are feeling unwell or have symptoms, in quarantine or self isolation or have had contact with a COVID-19 case (If you are in this situation, we can organise a telemedicine appointment to establish a safe way to manage the case in the clinic or remotely, depending on what is appropriate and needed). - Have only one person attend the clinic where possible - Remain in your car when you arrive and phone us - Not make a phone call while you are waiting for us as then we can’t get through - Be patient with us as this system creates an increased amount of phone traffic - Let us know if you have an emergency or urgent case as you will be prioritised - If your pet's case is not urgent, we appreciate your consideration that we may need to prioritise more urgent cases. We will give you honest guidance as to the urgency of your case if you are not sure, based on scientific evidence - If you do need to enter the clinic, you will be required to sanitise your hands, wear a face mask and have a temperature check. Your contact details will be further collected for potential contact tracing purposes as per government regulations - If you need medications, parasite products or food, you can place an order by going to our website www.bellvet.com.au and click on the Order Medication tab or by phone and you can then collect contactlessly. If you need to have them delivered, let us know. Together we can manage the COVID risks and ensure your pets get the care they need during these unprecedented times. We thank you for entrusting us with the care of your furkids.

19.01.2022 COVID-19 Update The health of our clients and team is our number one priority at Bellarine Veterinary Practice (BVP) with respect to the COVID-19 outbreak. Over... the past couple of weeks we have been taking appropriate measures in accordance with the Health Dept advice. Due to the care of your pets, our clinics are held to an extremely high cleaning and sterility processes, so our focus has been to remind and reiterate current processes already in place. Just as we have asked our own team, our main point is that if you are suffering any cold or flu like symptoms please reschedule your appointments. Please see below our action plan which has been in place for some time and is reviewed daily If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact one of our friendly reception team. What you can do to help us? Please limit visits to one person per animal being brought into the clinic. On arrival please call reception and wait in your car (weather permitting). Staff will then return your call when your appointment is ready to reduce numbers in the waiting room and respect social distancing (1.5m spacing between people). Please ring and pre-order medications, food, flea & worm products to minimise the amount of time needed to spend in the clinic. We also encourage pre-payment over the phone to reduce contact with eftpos machines and reception areas Wash your hands. Always wash hands if organic material is present, and dry hands with a disposable paper towel. For the COVID-19 virus, soap and water hand washing over a 20 second period is sufficient. Use hand sanitiser in the absence of organic matter. Hand sanitiser is provided at all our reception desks. Clients will be receiving the following sms reminder for appointments. Please reschedule if this applies: "From Bellarine Veterinary Practice for 'Fluffy'. We have an appointment scheduled at (location), on (date) at (time). If you have traveled overseas in the past two weeks or if you are unwell please call 52482009 to reschedule " Reduce cash and card handling (reception staff will ask you to swipe/tap your cards where possible) What our team are doing Wiping surfaces & reducing excess surfaces - any high touch areas wiped down multiple times a day Sanitising door handles, phones, keyboards and light switches Replacing patient towels in treatment rooms as per normal hygiene standards If they have a cough or cold they are not coming to work. We have clear guidelines in place for staff to take leave if they are unwell during this time. Signs on the door of every clinic reminding people not to enter if they are showing symptoms Temporarily no magazines in waiting area Replacing reusable cloths with paper towel Minimal movement of staff amongst clinic locations Frequently asked questions - answers provided by Australian Veterinary Association What is a coronavirus? Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that infect birds and mammals, including humans. They are often associated with the common cold, bronchitis and pneumonia, and can also affect the gut. The virus that causes COVID-19 is also a coronavirus and likely originated from a wildlife reservoir. Canine coronavirus, which can cause diarrhoea, and feline coronavirus, which can cause feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), have been seen by veterinarians for many years. They do not cause infections in humans. These coronaviruses are not associated with the current COVID-19 pandemic. Can COVID-19 infect pets? There have been reports from Hong Kong that a dog owned by a patient with COVID-19 has tested positive to the presence of the virus in its nose and mouth. This is may be a case of human to animal transmission, however the dog’s first blood tests have been negative. At this stage there is no evidence that pet dogs or cats are a source of infection to other animals or humans. We are continuing to monitor this situation and will provide updated information as it becomes available. Should I avoid contact with pets or other animals if I am sick with COVID-19? As the outbreak continues, a number of pet owners will be placed in quarantine, either with confirmed COVID-19 infection or due to exposure. We know that your pet is part of your family and you will want them to have the same level of protection and care as any other family member. Current information suggests there is no apparent risk to you or your pet from being in quarantine with you. However, we do advise all pet owners continue to practice appropriate hand hygiene before and after handling their pet, their food and washing food/water bowls. At no stage should pet owners do anything that may compromise the welfare of their pets. We suggest minimizing close contact with your pet during this time, such as hugging, face to face contact or sleeping on your bed. What do I do if I am in quarantine or self-isolation and my pet is unwell? If you are in quarantine, do not break quarantine to take your pet to the veterinarian even if your pet is unwell. By doing this you will put your veterinarian and staff at risk of infection. Ring your veterinary surgery first and ask for advice. If your pet needs to be seen, your veterinarian will be able to work with you to ensure your pet will receive the care they need, while keeping themselves and their staff safe from COVID-19 infection. If your vet provides house calls, please let them know you are under quarantine before they arrive. Kind regards, The Bellarine Veterinary Practice Team

05.01.2022 Last week we treated all our staff at all our clinics to a delicious individual grazing box (all dietary requirements catered for which is quite the logistical challenge!) by Splatters. Thanks very much Jo and team! Our staff have been working tirelessly these last few months and it was great to take some time out to do something together whilst apart whilst supporting local business. A big thank you too to Geelong Cool Rooms who promptly provided the space to store all our delicious boxes until we finished our shifts when it became apparent they weren't going to fit in the tea room fridge! https://www.splatters.online/ https://geelongmobilecoolrooms.com.au/
