23.01.2022 Bellarine First Aid is (taking a hit) like many other small business in Geelong, Surf Coast and Bellarine area. There are many good people who have had their world turned upside down and are scared. Since this outbreak, many have turned to Face Book and other instant media to debate why isolation and restrictions are required. There are some sites that claim this as a "hoax". If you want to hear the truth, please read on. The title of this current threat is - novel COVID-19 v...irus. Let us first look at the word (novel) in regard to this current threat. Novel = "of a new kind, different from anything known or seen before". We have the best scientists working on a vaccine to address this current threat and it will happen. It must be safe and will take time. If we all comply with current restrictions, things will ease as the curve begins to go down. How lucky are we to live in Australia and to learn from other countries. The same threat occurred at the end of World War 1, with the same rules rules of engagement. At that time, there was no vaccine for influenza and certainly no anti-biotics (Penicillin). Australia survived well given other countries but due to influenza we still experienced tragic loss across all age groups. Many succumbed to secondary bacterial infection of the URTI = Upper Respiratory Tract Infection infiltrating the lungs. Some may think this is a bold statement. Evidence can be found on this link from the National Museum of Australia. https://www.nma.gov.au/defining-moments//influenza-pandemic
