05.01.2022 DIPLOMA OF YOUTH WORK (CHC50413) Commencing July 16th! Limited places left! AWESOME PEOPLE WANTED TO BECOME YOUTH WORKERS... Hi all, my names Malcolm and I run the Diploma of Youth Work and Diploma of Mental Health courses at Bellarine Training and Community Hub (BTACH - in Ocean Grove). Both Youth Work and or Mental Health are awesome careers. I trained in undergraduate Psychology and have worked as a community rehabilitation and support worker and in many other related roles since my mid-late twenties (20 years ago +: 0) and I have been employed constantly in both Mental Health and or Youth Work ever since. My roles have included disability, rehabilitation, homelessness, adult and youth mental health, youth work and A&OD services. There are heaps of different directions you can take once you have the Diploma qualification/s (drug and alcohol, youth justice, mental health, school wellbeing, recreation, outreach, residential support, intake and assessment, case management etc.). You dont need any specific prior experience to be great as a psychosocial rehabilitation practitioner (with the right training!) but you do need to share some important values and be: - Reliable - Honest - Trustworthy - Empathetic - Hardworking - Awesome (and humble at the same time!) Im passionate about young people, youth work and mental health - which means that I take the training I do seriously, and I ask that our learners to take it seriously too! The people we work with are too important for us to not undertake our roles responsibly! That said the classes are fun and based on real-life case studies and practical situations. Dont expect to be sitting around listening to a monotonous lecture. Come ready to think, discuss, challenge, practice and reflect. The classes are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday 9-3. You should be able to complete the course in about 18 months (maybe a bit longer or shorter depending on when you do your industry placement hours.) Cost depends on a few things, but can be as little as $15 a week for a funded spot. For details please call BTACH on (03) 5255 4294 and let them know youre interested in the Diploma of Youth Work or the Diploma of Mental Health course . (FYI - I wont be able to answer questions on this post or by messenger as enquiries should go through office) Thanks! See more
