25.01.2022 Following a successful planting we have had a number of falls of rain that have seen the crops jump out of the ground - lets hope for more rain to come. As well as growing durum wheat we also plant chickpeas as part of our cropping rotation. Chickpeas are chosen for their ability to naturally add nutrients to the soil and help reducing the likelihood of diseases affecting our durum crops.

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Kate Eassie of Mungindi, winner of the Bellata Gold hamper drawn at the Grain Growers Association (GGA) gala dinner! The GGA conference, sowing the seeds of success was held in Tamworth 7-9th July. GGA represents interests of 17,000 grain across Australia. Bellata Gold was keynote speaker on day 3 of this great event for our young growers between 18-35.

12.01.2022 Overnight has seen some small showers of rain in our district. True to form as farmers wed always like to see more, but some rain is better than a hot dry day! Fingers crossed there is more to come.

10.01.2022 The 2009 durum season is shaping up as the best we have had in as many as six years. There was good sub soil moisture at the time of planting in mid-May. Planting went off without a hitch and all the crops were planted on time. Getting the timing right for planting is crucial to ensuring a timely harvest and a high quality product.

07.01.2022 Rotini Summer Salad Bring to the boil 375g Rotini (plain or flavoured), and cook until al dente. Drain and cool. Use fresh black olives Semi Dried Tomatoes Chargrilled Eggplants, Zucchinis and a few pepper dews In a big bowl toss all the above and add cup virgin olive oil, rock or flake salts Fresh Coriander and Mint mix well and serve.

02.01.2022 Our crops are performing very well given the below-average rainfall we have received this season. We expect harvest will begin for us in late October. Therefore it is all hands on deck doing maintenance on the machinery required for harvest from headers to trucks and everything in between.
