24.01.2022 This year at Bellbird Park we’d love to start a tradition of our students, parents, families participating in Inktober! This is an annual worldwide drawing challenge during the month of October with a specific prompt for each day using only ink based drawing materials. Participants use the hashtags to share their drawings worldwide and we will also provide opportunities for participants to share their masterpieces with our college community. We will be providing participant packs with a wide variety of different types of papers to use over the course of the challenge as well as all the instructions for prompts and how to share your creations. Participants need to email Ms North at [email protected] to sign up for the challenge and to arrange for their information packs to be collected prior to the end of the term.

24.01.2022 RUOK? DAY USQ PHOENIX RADIO For RUOK Day last Thursday, we had an exciting visit from USQ’s Phoenix Radio, AM 1197. 21.01.2022 RUOK? DAY CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES Last week for RUOK Day, period 4 was dedicated to some fun activities to help raise awareness for RUOK Day. Pathways classes had a blast dressing in yellow and participating in a rotating timetable of activities.

To ensure continued enrolment at Bellbird Park SSC is secure for 2021, please contact us via email at: [email protected] if your child is expected to miss the start of the 2021 school year. Students are required to be in regular attendance from Wednesday 27 January (year 7 and 11) and from Thursday 28 January (all year levels). If your child is not able to attend school on the first day, parents are required to seek approval from the... college prior to the end of this year. Students not returning until after Friday 5 February 2021 are required to provide documentary evidence of the arrangements that preclude the normal start dates and seek approval to do so. Without this documentation and approval, we will not be able to hold places in classes. Please provide us with early advice so that we can attend to these arrangements with you. 2. 20.01.2022 TRANSITION DAY - YEAR 7 2021 The day is off to a great start with a welcome to our new Year 7 students by our college Principal Mr West. The room was buzzing with nerves and excitement. All the groups are off to their first rotation for the morning to begin a fun filled day learning all about high school and BPSSC. ... Students can be collected from the front entry at 2.30pm. Please note parents are not to enter the college.

17.01.2022 AWARD CELEBRATIONS Today we have celebrated the wonderful achievements of our students through our Semester 2 Effort Ceremony with the added bonus of a pizza reward. We also celebrated the positive attendance of many of our students with donuts for 95% and above attendance for this term. More photos to come of our Effort Ceremony.

17.01.2022 RUOK? DAY POLICE VS STUDENT TOUCH GAME First break saw our second annual Police Vs Student Touch game. Congratulations to our Bellbird student team for their win against Goodna Police. It was a tight game with a score of 5-4. Thank you to Goodna Police Station who sent about a dozen officers to play against our students. This event is something the students and staff really look forward to every year.

16.01.2022 EFFORT AWARDS Join us in celebrating our Effort Award recipients for Semester 2, 2020. All BPSSC students are eligible for an Effort Award through persistence and hard work each semester. The recipients have received no less than Very Good Effort and a minimum of 5 Excellent Effort grades for Bronze, 6 Excellent Effort grades for Silver and 7 Excellent Effort grades for Gold. We look forward to our next round of Effort Awards in 2021.

Shoes must have a heel, no greater than 20mm and no lower than 5mm. No skate/roller shoes, slip-ons, boots, coloured laces, ballet flats, canvas, mesh-top, or suede shoes are permitted. Students are permitted to bring sport specific shoes for HPE lessons and interschool sport. However, under no circumstances as these to be worn to and from and school, or non HPE lessons. 10.01.2022 YEAR 7 CAMP Check out some of the action from Day 1 of camp at CYC Burleigh. Students enjoyed the bus trip down to Burleigh and were keen to get into the action of their first rotation of activities. Everyone had an opportunity to work on their teamwork and decision-making skills along with building their resilience and persistence throughout the challenges of the different activities. 05.01.2022 One million people in Queensland need food relief services like Foodbank. 22% of this group are our children. This September, we are running The Hunger Drive. A new digital fundraising campaign that enables our College to support Queenslanders in need to receive nutritious food by donating food virtually. Bellbird Park SSC will be able to effortlessly track our impact with automated meal calculations and fun leader boards. The Hunger Drive goal is to raise enough funds t...o deliver 600,000 meals to Queenslanders in need between now and Christmas time. That’s right, 100% of all Hunger Drive funds raised will be spent on providing food across our state to those who need support most. Food Bank have been there for us in our time of need, providing food for our breakfast club, now it’s our turn to be there for them. 01.01.2022 SWIMMING CARNIVAL 2021 - FINAL REMINDER ATTENDEES - All Year 7 students & participants only in Years 8-11 Swimming carnival for 2021 is fast approaching and will happen Friday the 29th of January 2021. Letters regarding the carnival have been sent out to all students via their pathways classes and nominations have also been taken.... Please note that swimming carnival is day 3 of Term 1 therefore all letters for current students needed to be returned before the end of term and payments for the bus need to be made before the start of Term 1. Nominations for students in Years 8-11 have also been taken during Term 4. If your student was away and missed the nominations, they must see Miss Flatman-Bateman the first day back to school (Year 11 Wednesday 27/01 and Years 8-10 Thursday 28/01). Year 7 nominations will be done on the day of the Swimming Carnival. All Year 7 students will be attending the day. 01.01.2022 HOT WEATHER AHEAD As the weather in heating up quickly we would like to reminds families to ensure students have a drink bottle and hat for school each day. Drink bottles can be refilled during lunch breaks and hats should be worn when in the sun. The Hall will be open each morning before school from 8am each morning this week to enable students to stay active out of the heat. We will advertise to students on daily notices areas in the college that will be open at break times also.
