24.01.2022 Dark green foliage. I've realised that my garden is mostly light and mid-green. I think I need some dark green shrubs and trees to give it depth. Any ideas? Faves? TIA.

23.01.2022 Upon hearing yesterday my New Perennial pond garden captured a 2020 Honor Award in Landscape Design from the US-based #perennialplantassociation (the PPA's high...est such honor) I’m lost for words. Better to let the garden speak for itself;-) Special thx to garden friend Piet Oudolf for sage advice in the design phase and to Roy Diblik for his advice on how to transpose a design from plan to ground with "field adjustments". Thanks to my international community of garden friends here on FB, especially in my FB group Dutch Dreams. Hugely inspiring to be at the heart of a global movement alive with uniquely local expressions in nearly every corner of the world. Much thanks to my amphibious wife Troy who so deeply loves the pond, the garden, and the man who tends it. Vice versa. My dream is to create vibrant naturalistic gardens that speak to my northern environnement and inspire others to do the same wherever they live. This is a sweet milestone in the journey and welcome news in a bleak time. The garden thanks you too. #smalljoysinableaktime #satisfaction #naturalisticplanting #wildscaping #thenewperennialist #newperennialmovement #gartenliebe #trädgårdsinspiration #plantingdesign #plantingdesigner #gartenpraxis #gardendesignmagazine #gardensofinstagram #gardensillustrated #torontobotanicalgarden #mono #pondgarden #dutchdreams

22.01.2022 Replying to Bella who was asking for advice: '"Before I began landscaping my property I read books and looked at magazines... then completed a Permaculture Design course with Rosemary Morrow... then studied landscape construction... then Diploma Landscape Design... then another Permaculture course with Milkwood (featuring guest teacher David Holmgren for a day)... then Permaculture Teacher Training Course... then taught Dip Landscape Design at OTEN, TAFE NSW... ... but Peta Frullani knows her plants. I would highly recommend contacting her."

See more
