24.01.2022 empath noun A person with the paranormal ability to perceive the mental or emotional state of another individual.... When I discovered I was an EMPATH, it taught me so much about myself and this crazy life journey. I would often feel other people's pain to the point where I would grieve their pain. I would take other people's problems as my own. If I sat in a crowd I could see and feel all the energy around me. I was sensitive to watching the news or hearing about any bad in the world as i would take it all on my shoulders and would cripple me. I had to learn to harness this empath strength that I once saw as a weakness. I had to start seeing life objectively because what i discovered being an empath was that if I had the same pain as someone then i had to take on my own emotions and pain, it would send me to an early grave. Being an empath is beautiful but it can be exhausting. It can leave you anxious and depressed, feeling an overwhelming whirlwind of your own and other people's emotions. So how did i learn to harness this power? By not putting myself in situations that trigger it in a negative way, like not watching the news, scrolling FB or insta and seeing animals getting tortured and by intentionally choosing not to take anyeone else's pain on board. To counteract the pain I feel for the world I do my part to help those doing it tough. Sometimes it may seem that empaths are ignorant, but we absolutely need to protect ourselves in order to remain mentally and emotionally ok. I have to admit, I have been ignorant the bush fire disaster here in Australia because the pain of our people dying, the family's losing loved ones, our wildlife dying, our beautiful country getting burnt to ashes devastates me to a point where I can't deal. Life can be so unfair to the point where we are left feeling betrayed and wondering WHY which there really is no explanation other than there is something better on the other side of death and suffering. Personally i know there is purpose from pain and I believe everything happens for a reason. My acceptance which a huge part of healing comes from this comfort and gives me hope. 11.01.2022 SMOKING FEEDS YOUR DRAGON Before I became a mum and had a HUGE cancer scare, I was a social smoker. But social or full time Instead of helping me relax it increased my anxiety and tension. Nicotine creates an immediate sense of relaxation so people smoke in the belief that it reduces stress and anxiety. This feeling of relaxation is temporary and soon gives way to withdrawal symptoms and increased cravings.... Smoking reduces nicotine withdrawal symptoms, which are similar to the symptoms of anxiety, but it does not reduce anxiety or deal with the underlying causes. Nicotine found in cigarettes stimulates the release of the chemical dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is involved in triggering positive feelings. It is often found to be low in people with depression, who may then use cigarettes as a way of temporarily increasing their dopamine supply. However, smoking encourages the brain to switch off its own mechanism for making dopamine so in the long term your supply decreases, which in turn prompts people to smoke more. You have to decide to intentionally give up and when you do you will: Rediscover smell and taste. Within just a few days of quitting smoking, your senses of smell and taste will improve.
