23.01.2022 Harris Farm Markets Two weeks after the new grocery superstore opened on the Border, the novelty has not yet worn off for locals flocking to Harris Farm Markets. And the Sydney-based business said the response had been "incredible".... Co-chief executive Tristan Harris said they had been amazed by the support from the Border community since opening the doors to the Young Street store on March 29. "The Albury store has more than three times as many car parks as any of our Sydney stores and yet it has been consistently jam=packed," he told The Border Mail. "My brother and I have spoken to hundreds, if not thousands, of locals who have given us such kind and humbling feedback. "Our team have been absolute champions and our local business partners have all risen to the occasion. "We have been blown away by the support that we've received from the community." Mr Harris said the overwhelming feedback from the Border community had been they want local produce. "We've tried hard to ensure that we have the best offering of local products in the region and used as many local suppliers, contractors and team members as we could," he said. "I suspect it is those people that have rallied the support for this store. "It almost feels as if it is the community's store. "We now have to double down our efforts to be what the community wants - which seems to be local, local, local. "I think we have sold at least one chicken drumstick for every man woman and child in Albury." While Mr Harris said they know the excitement will slow down, they anticipate buyers will continue to support them and make the grocer part of their weekly shop. "Naturally there are lots of people coming to have a look a the store," he said. "That will slow down as we move out of the summer fruit season and in the coming months. "However, we also usually find that as people get more used to shopping the store they find more interesting and delicious things to buy and incorporate into what they cook each week. "And so slowly the frequency that people come to the shop and the range of items they buy will increase. "That means it will feel less busy, and the car park will empty out a bit, but we are now extremely confident that this shop is a real winner. "We would really like to thank the community who have been so open to having us come to town and especially to our extremely hard-working team of locals. "None of this would be possible without them." The Albury store is the biggest for Harris Farm Markets and employs 150 local people.
