25.01.2022 Naidoc week - education, engagement and celebration. A big thank you to the Southern Elders Weaving Group who shared their culture and weaving craft. Well done also to the young weavers who have transformed our cubby structures. Look out for more weaving stories across the week!
25.01.2022 Hello all. With this lovely wet weather our garden is 'exploding' with luscious WEEDS! We are asking for any donations of pitch forks, small trowels and children's garden gloves to help us combat this invasion!!! Also we would appreciate any large pots (to cook rice or pasta) that we can use for future cooking lessons. Please leave any donations at the front office. Thank you in anticipation
25.01.2022 2019 Book Parade Theme: Reading is my Secret Power When: Friday August 23 2019 Time: 9:15 am Its time to get excited for the Book Character Parade. The parade is a big event where children and teachers dress in costume to represent a favourite book character or National Dress.... Book Week celebrations are important because it reminds everyone that books offer more than just a good story. Literature can act as a source of knowledge, a vehicle to other places, a means to peer into the past and future and so much more. Costumes for our Parade could be made from just simple pieces of clothing or items you may have at home e.g. belts, scarves, hats, headbands, boxes, leggings to name a few. Remember you do not need to buy costumes- Its much more fun when we make them with love and with your child in mind however we understand that life is busy! We are really excited to see our community come together to celebrate Book Character Parade Be creative and see you soon! Thank you for your support. BHPS Staff See more
25.01.2022 Today many of our classes participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime 2020 reading of 'Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas'. Every year the Australian Library and Information Association selects a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, that is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, preschools, family homes, childcare centres and bookshops and many more places around the country. Look out for our newsletter in Week 7 for more photos.
25.01.2022 BHPS Four Year Old Fridays program is back for Term 2! Please share with your FB friends to let them know about how excellent this program is Sessions will he held on the 17th, 24th and 31st of May. Please contact the school for more information on ... 8278 7182, as availability is limited and bookings are essential. What benefits does our program bring? It offers a yearlong transition to formal schooling. This lengthy transition is extremely beneficial to the children but also for parents who may have some reservations about how school ready their child may be. Research as well as anecdotal experience shows that children who have more exposure to educational settings have a better chance of adjusting to school in all areas. A very important part of growing up is the ability to interact and socialize with others. Our sessions allow for this to occur in a safe and non- threatening way. Our four year olds begin to forge connections with their peers, observing how the current Reception and Year One children operate in the classroom setting. Four year old Fridays slowly introduces new routines and expectations. Our four year olds become familiar with large groups; listening to stories; taking turns or sharing space to construct or play. Our teachers also have the opportunity to observe their next intake of students and what they need to do to support these children to experience a seamless transition from preschool, kindergarten or home to formal schooling.

13.01.2022 Resource Centre News It is that time of year that we stocktake all our library and teaching resources. All student library books and Take-home readers should now be returned. This is a huge and time-consuming task and we would appreciate if families can support us by ensuring their children return all books. Regards
12.01.2022 As a narrative writing story starter Miss Debbie's 2/3 class brought their soft toys into the library for a 'sleep-over'. The toys were put to sleep with their blankets and pillows. However, they all got up to mischief during the night!!! This sparked great excitement and the children wrote very creative stories.

06.01.2022 Today the school teddies have missed their friends so they have gotten up to some mischief around our school. Using the photocopier, interrupting the Year 6/7 class, hiding in the sick room and sliding incorrectly down the hand rails. We are hoping your Teddies at home are behaving. We will be discussing these adventures with our students and making narrative stories.

04.01.2022 At the end of Term 3, Bellevue Heights Primary had its annual Carnival Day, organised and run by the Student Representative Committee (SRC). The Carnival is one of the highlights of the school year! The SRC Carnival is developed by the SRC Executives and the student representatives from each class. Together they help plan the stalls, sell tickets and decide where the proceeds will go.... The money is donated equally to a local, a national and an international charity. The stalls are run by the students (the younger classes had help from their teachers). In the older classes, the creation of stalls forms part of their business and economics studies. They have to work in teams to research what might be successful and work within a budget, showing expenses and profits. Along with the educational aspects, the raising of funds for different charities nurturers empathy and community, giving the children an understanding that they are global citizens and can make a positive difference.
03.01.2022 The first 4 Year Old Fridays session for the term is this week!
