24.01.2022 Established in 2017, Goodness Coffee Co. (https://www.facebook.com/goodnesscoffeco) is located in the historic town of Aldinga. Sourcing carefully selected premium green coffee from around the world they roast on site in a heritage listed 1870’s workshop. When you enter the building, your eyes will be drawn down to the wooden boards covering the floor pit where many a local car was repaired. In its time it has been home to a mechanic, coach builder and also for an underta...ker (we prefer its present reincarnation!) The charming coffee roastery and espresso bar is just a 10-minute drive from Bellevue B&B McLaren Vale You should take a peek at the walls as they tend to exhibit the work of local artists, and yes, I am pretty sure that it is for sale (the art work not the coffee bar!) The lounge and bar area are complete with the coffee roasting machine, a pleasant sitting area out the front and a small alfresco garden out the back. Bike racks and water for dogs included. There is plenty of shade & importantly for summer it is airconditioned! Coffee including Cold brew is their main game, with just a few treats so not to lose focus on this art. Some of those treats include: almond croissants, banana bread and ham & cheese croissants. These vary day by day and you need to choose your time carefully as they close at 1pm! 22.01.2022 A par 72 and 18-hole 5962 metre course, the Victor Harbor Golf Club is one of the oldest courses on the Fleurieu Peninsula but is still one of the most scenic. Getting to the course is an easy 40-minute drive from Bellevue B&B Mclaren Vale Golf has been played on the current site for over 95 years and each golfer that has teed it up has been greeted by an uninterrupted view of Granite Island and Encounter Bay off in the distance beyond the 1st green below. The opening dri...ve here is one of the most picturesque in Australian golf, taking full advantage of the magnificent views of the region, looking out into Encounter Bay. This is not just a pretty hole either. At 402 metres, this course is heavily tree-lined on both sides of the fairway. While the hole plays considerably shorter because of the highly elevated tee, the breeze here is also a factor on your length and accuracy. One of the most memorable holes at Victor Harbor comes early in the round and is a fine example of nature dictating the design of a hole. The 150-metre 3rd features a tee, surrounded by trees and shrubs, perched on one side of a deep gully and the green on the other side. A water hazard at the bottom of the gully doesn’t come into play for most players but the five bunkers surrounding the angled green certainly do. This course is a haven for wildlife- keep your eyes peeled for Tawny Frogmouths, ring tailed possums as well as the delightful kangaroos (who often hang out at the Club house fountain in the warmer weather. 21.01.2022 Hop in the car and head to Port Elliot, make you way to De Groot Coffee Co. (only a 35-minute drive from Bellevue B&B McLaren Vale via Willunga Hill and Mt Compass) After humble beginnings in the coffee making business the owners of De Groot Coffee Co Trevor and Bernadette set up shop in 2014 in Port Elliot. ... Their main focus is roasting single origin coffee, with a charter to support certified organic fair trade by purchasing beans from small grower co-operatives. They offer three single origin coffees to try at any time between 8am and 2pm daily. The De Groots supply fair trade, organic and high-end micro-lot coffee to venues all over the city and on the Fleurieu Peninsula. However, this is the only place you can grab their incredible coffee, sample freshly made pastries and see the owners roasting in action. Visit Factory 9 in Port Elliot, is it a great location to enjoy a coffee. Like Goodness and Dawn Patrol, De Groot’s focus is on simplicity and honesty. You can chat to the baristas about where the beans are from, when they’ve been roasted, and the best way to brew them. There's fine tea available as well as iced coffee and chocolate, milkshakes and spiders (OMG!!!!). Delicate pastries, brownies and biscuits complete the deal. 20.01.2022 Meadows is the home of a short heritage walk which makes an ideal day trip or perhaps a stopping point on your way to or from Bellevue B&B McLaren Vale (25 mins by car) The walk itself is graded Easy YAH I hear you say; so this is perfect for those slower moving days. Starting at Battunga Park at the junction of the main roads, the first interpretive signs tell us a little about the Peramangk people, their beliefs in the area, and the naming of the district as Battunga cou...ntry, meaning place of big trees. For those of you with an interest there is a Big Tree Registry. Meadows was first surveyed in 1839 with the first buildings appearing in the early 1840's. This walk guides you around the centre of Meadows to discover and enjoy some of its fascinating history. You can learn a lot from this walk about the town, wooden headstones, great bakery, markets and some great sculptures. There is lots to see on this short walk, the hill to the cemetery might be a slight challenge for some however there are great views from the top. The entire walk is about 2.5 km long, and will take less than an hour at a slow pace whilst allowing time to enjoy the scenery. Battunga park was revegetated in 2009 as part of the 150th year celebrations, as a direct result of the revegetation the diversity of animal and bird species has increased, post what you see. http://ow.ly/P2i350Cc08l Search For Accommodation at Bellevue B&B: http://ow.ly/jxGw50Cc08k Promo Code: HeritageWalk

19.01.2022 Qahwa (kah-wa) Qahwa Espresso Bar and Coffee Roasters are based in Victor Harbor. (only a 35-minute drive from Bellevue B&B McLaren Vale) Qahwa takes great pride in offering a unique blend of healthy food, house roasted coffee and the world’s largest sandpit for families since 2017. As they are located right on the foreshore, nestled between the beach volleyball courts and the tennis courts, they don’t take bookings; you can just stroll in whenever the whim takes you. ... Obviously, it is best if that whim and their opening hours coincide! In summer umbrellas cover the tables so you can sit comfortably watching the volleyball. They roast on site at their cafe and in small batches throughout the week using quality beans. Qahwa offers families as well as singles and older customers a great meeting place where they can relax in a friendly open-air environment. 19.01.2022 Where should I play golf today? There are many wonderful courses all over the Fleurieu Peninsula including the McCracken Golf Club which is 40 minutes drive from Bellevue B&B Mclaren Vale McCracken Golf Club's international championship standard 18-hole course (designed by renowned golf course architect Tony Cashmore) and is a fine driving course.... Undulating fairways lead to manicured greens, amongst the picturesque hazards scattered throughout the course 72 bunkers and 14 lakes & ponds which will sometimes be cause for even the best golfer to come unstuck. But when you do take the risk, it can be duly rewarded, which is what makes this course such a competitive challenge amongst friends. Bit of a bonus; tuition is also available to improve your game as well as flight scope, (a radar which tracks your golf swing and ball flight) to show which clubs are best suited to your swing. It’s an easy 30-minute drive from Bellevue B&B Mclaren Vale Opened in 1967 this course is popular with players and is great for players of all levels. ... The Golf Course itself follows two natural creeks, meandering through the course to feed a man-made water storage facility known as Loch Hillan. Loch Hillan not only provides top class water for maintenance of the course, but forms an integral part and frames what is the most picturesque 7th and 17th holes. This course is best described as parkland, with tight tee shots down tree lined fairways, it is also undulating course with plenty of rise and fall. So all up a testing yet beautiful par 72 and is fully established with 19 holes (1 spare to enable ongoing maintenance of other holes) of beautifully grassed fairways, tees and greens. 14.01.2022 The Deep Creek Waterfall Hike takes you down to a year-round waterfall nestled in the heart of the park. Along the way you can see spectacular views of densely wooded hills. Start from the car park on Tent Rock Road, at the entrance to Trig Campsite. The trail’s considered steep, and there are steps towards the end of the hike, which is something to consider before you start. Deep Creek Conservation Park is the largest portion of remaining natural vegetation on the Fleurieu ...Peninsula and is home to an array of native wildlife such as western grey kangaroos, short beaked echidnas and 100 species of birds that can be heard and seen while walking in the park. There are 15 walking trails in the park which provide spectacular scenery of Backstairs Passage, Kangaroo Island and the rugged Deep Creek Valley which includes section of the famous Heysen Trail. The walks range from easy to very difficult so accommodating for all ages and abilities. If you think this hike might be too steep then consider these other wonderful walks: Stringybark Loop Walk (30 min loop, 1.5 km) - A short, relatively flat walk through old growth stringybark forest. There is a lot of wildlife in this area of the park. Forest Circuit Walk (1 hr return, 2.6 km) - This is a fairly flat and easy stroll through tall stringybark forest. This is a lovely morning or late afternoon walk. Goondooloo Ridge Walk (2 hrs return, 4 km) - This trail along Goondooloo Ridge offers spectacular views of Backstairs Passage. Spring Wildflower Walk (2.5 hrs return, 5 km) - A perfect nature walk. You'll see native wildflowers during late winter and early spring in this regenerating sclerophyll forest. However if you think the Waterfall hike is not sufficient you can turn it into an all day hike by doing the Deep Creek Circuit. Note to self this is rated HARD!!! 14.01.2022 An 18-hole course with par 72, @LLBgolf (Links Lady Bay ) is 6116 metres and provides coastal views and kangaroos, as well as great golfing just a 40-minute drive from Bellevue B&B Mclaren Vale This is a St Andrews-style, sand-based links course among the best in South Australia. This course is in the Australian top 100 with wildlife on the course. There are lots of bunkers and some quite difficult to get out of. The course covers a coastal plain wedged between rolling hill...s and the waters of the Gulf St Vincent and is routed in two loops of nine holes that head out from the resort, which overlooks the front nine. Each hole runs in a different direction to the previous, which challenges the golfer to become a keen judge of the ever-present breeze. On the 17th; par is a tough cookie, usually you are facing into the prevailing wind and all the greens are undulated and sloping from back to front. With the coastline off in the distance and tufted grasses swaying in the breeze and shimmering between tee and green, you feel immediately transported. The green sits slightly above the tee, so the eight bunkers surrounding three sides of the putting surface are partially obscured from view. That said, the green opening is wide and receptive to tee shots landing short and running on. It is a pleasure to play here and enjoy your golf whether you are walking. or you have hired one of the golf buggies with GPS! ResistTheUsual https://bellevuebnb.com.au/search-for-accommodation/

13.01.2022 Winding along magnificent coastal cliffs and through the foothills and vineyards of McLaren Vale the Coast to Vines Rail Trail is the ideal way to explore the diverse attractions the region has to offer. The Coast to Vines Rail Trail is a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians that follows the route of the original Rail corridor from Marino to the country town of Willunga. Approximately 37km long and travels from the coastal cliffs at Marino, through the suburbs of Hallett ...Cove, Reynella, Morphett Vale, Hackham, Seaford Rise then into the countryside through the town of McLaren Vale down to the Willunga. The trail begins at Marino Rocks station and travels along the Adelaide coastline, along the original rail corridor past the Hallett Cove and the Hugh Johnson Reserve, (a great place to have a picnic lunch). Eventually the trail takes you to the tunnel under the Expressway and towards McLaren vale. The section from McLaren Vale to Willunga is known as the Shiraz Trail. You can access the Shiraz trail by walking 250m from Bellevue B&B Mclaren Vale This nine-kilometre, dual use path is (IMHO) arguably the most scenic stretch of the Coast to Vines Rail Trail. It is also flatter and winds its way past vineyards, paddocks and historic disused railway stations, and (BONUS) there are several cellar doors along the route. Not feeling energetic? You can walk one way and grab a bus back or take a bike instead of a hike. 12.01.2022 Only a quick and pleasant 45minute drive from Bellevue B&B Mclaren Vale the 1.9km Kaiki Trail around Granite Island is a great way for people to discover the island. Begin the walk in Victor Harbor, by crossing the causeway. The causeway itself was built between 1862-1870 (by hand naturally) and is an awesome walk. What’s really cool here is the magnificent horse drawn trams that go back and forth across the causeway. I love the tram (actually I looooove the horses) Fear n...ot about not having a guide, you will discover more about the wildlife, geology and history of the island with the interpretive signs along the trail. Check out the map (https://www.walkingsa.org.au//Kaiki-Trail-walk-map-Granite) Explore granite boulders including Umbrella Rock, the views across Encounter Bay and the Bluff are sensational, and interpretive signage along the trail offers information on the history, wildlife, and geology of the area. For anyone with mobility issues we suggest walking anti-clockwise, which is to turn sharp right after leaving the causeway. There is a long flight of steps at the other end of the trail, but this is easily avoided by taking the shortcut gravel ramped path from the top of the island. There are no other steps on the circuit trail The island is well signposted. Among the spectacular scenery and coastal views, you’ll find a sculpture trail, featuring works by artists from local and international artists. When you are done don’t forget to call into the The Island Cafe for a refreshing beverage. 11.01.2022 Goolwa Heritage Walk: is self-guided historical walk explores the south side of Goolwa, just 35 minutes from Bellevue B&B McLaren Vale This is one of the shorter walks we highlight but in reality it is a 3 for 1. That’s right there are 3 actual short walks all roughly the same distance of and each is a 900m(ish) circuit. There is excellent interpretive signage along the Goolwa Wharf and Railway Precinct; which was established in the 1840s and 1850s. The area a declared a Sta...te Heritage Area in 1987. In 1856 Mr Young Bingham Hutchinson had part of his land on the south side of Goolwa subdivided as Goolwa Extension and locally known as Little Scotland. This subdivision contained features such as small allotments, small internal courts, carriageways and a network of walkways which followed a simple Scottish design. Early cottages were of simple design with symmetrical fronts and lean-tos at the rear. Walking SA have a great brochure. All of the historical sites are signposted with fascinating tales of the construction and use of the buildings, including Customs House, the former Police Station & Courthouse, the Post and Telegraph Office and the railway and wharf buildings. The area is the backdrop to Stormboy, an Australian award winning novel and movie - the second movie adaptation was released in January 2019. 11.01.2022 Quite a few years ago this walking trail was established in the country town of McLaren Vale. Having being established in the Hundred of Willunga in 1839, McLaren Vale as it is today was 2 separate towns; Gloucester (1850) and Bellevue (1854). They eventually grew together in approximately the 1860s and the merged town name came out of the existing locality name (McLaren Vale). McLaren Vale Heritage Trail While staying Bellevue B&B McLaren Vale you can explore the history of... the town on this self-guided walk. There are plenty of distractions along the way: restaurants and cafes, wineries and craft shops and galleries. The best way to experience the historic locations in McLaren Vale is to follow the signs, most of which are on the Main Road, around the town. Each point is marked by a sign even if the historic building has been removed, they tell a fascinating story of the early history of the town with interesting anecdotes and human-interest stories. The heritage walk begins at the McLaren Vale Visitors Information Centre. Some of the highlights are: The Barn Main Road. Formerly a coach stop for Cobb & Co. Marienberg Limeburner’s Centre Main Road. The original cottage was built in 1854 taking its name from the occupation of one of it‘s later inhabitants, a brick layer who burnt lime behind the cottage to make mortar used by local builders. Hotel McLaren Main Road. From 1857 - 1901 was known as The Clifton Hotel. Hardy Tintara Winery Main Road. Originally established in 1852 as the McLaren Vale Union Flour Mill. Full of rugged natural wonders the Onkaparinga River National Park National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia is a spectacular hidden treasure of the region. Recent additions to the park include a lookout, (the Punchbowl Lookout Trail is just an hour return) communal barbecue and seating areas ideal for picnics, as well as a new swing bridge at Old Noarlunga. As the park protects remnant vegetation in the region you are going to see lots of wildlife. Including, kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, kookaburras, possums, magpies and more. The streams that feed into the Onkaparinga River contain around 25 different native freshwater species including some that are exclusive to the river (think the southern purple-spotted gudgeon!) Enjoy a small walk with a barbecue and a picnic at the end. There are two public barbecue areas in the park, at Chapel Hill Picnic Ground in the heart of McLaren Vale Wine Region and Perry’s Bend in Noarlunga Downs. The gorge at the centre of the park is well known for its spectacular views and challenging rock faces, ideal for rock climbing. The Red River Gums are magnificent and the view from the cliff tops are stunning. This puts you in a great position to see if you can spot some of the 214 species of bird that call the Gorge home at some point in the year.

09.01.2022 The historic walk through Hahndorf (45 minutes from Bellevue B&B McLaren Vale via Meadows and Echunga) gives you a glimpse of the nineteenth century streetscape its history and development. As you stroll under the avenue of trees planted in 1885 by the Hanndorf community, imagine the traffic of that time: cows being driven to pasture by young lads, people on foot or astride horses, carriages and distinctive German wagons moving along the rutted dirt road. Hahndorf has a heri...tage that dates back to the late 1830's when German immigrants first settled in the town. The heritage walk will give you and clear idea of the original layout of the country town. 07.01.2022 Little more than 45 minutes’ drive down the road from Bellevue B&B Mclaren Vale is the New Terry Hotel and Golf Resort , formerly known as the Wirrina Cove Resort.’ Experience the feeling of getting away from it all in the beautiful South Australian countryside amongst wild birds and kangaroos in their natural habitat. New owners took over the course in 2018 and immediately invested in improving the course. Irrigation and drainage were upgraded, while all the bunkers and so...me greens were remodelled. It is now presenting a vastly improved golfing experience to what was offered before. New Terry possesses a varied and quality set of par-3s. But for a tough challenge, the penultimate hole is a 186-metre journey across one of the highest points of the course, which makes its susceptible to the wind blowing off the sea in the distance beyond the putting surface. When the prevailing wind really blows here some may need a driver to reach the green, which is protected by two bunkers left and another short right. If you find the green and have a shot at making a birdie or par, take a minute to soak in the view of the ocean through the rolling hills. New Terry boasts 18 magnificent holes perfect for social, competition or corporate golf. In addition to the quality of the course, and clubhouse facilities for a relaxing drink or meal, you will get to enjoy sharing your round with the local kangaroo’s. Different varieties of coffee, are suited to different soil types, sun exposure and other climatic elements. All these play a role in defining coffee aromas, flavours and textures. This is Fairtrade Certified coffee and different flavours to try, we recommend The Vale blend, named after, you guessed it McLaren Vale! Del Mare’s ethos is simple: traceable beans and a good, honest roast. The beans are hand roasted, and all their blends and single origin coffees offer a premium and unique flavour which is only created by their expert artisan techniques. These guys also have a colourful collection of bikes available for hire on weekends. 04.01.2022 Less than 10 minutes from Bellevue B&B Mclaren Vale is the Willunga Golf Course This course is considered one of South Australia's best public courses, with 200-year-old gum trees, creeks and great views. The course is very well maintained and is available to be played every day except Saturday mornings (competition time).... Willunga Golf Course was formed in 1973 with the intention to develop a nine-hole course. Extra holes were added over the years and in 1991 the layout was designed to incorporate a residential zone within the course precinct. Willunga opens strongly with a 391-metre par-4 dogleg right. The fairway is heavily tree-lined, which makes up for the fact there are no bunkers to be found on this hole. What the opener lacks in sand, it makes up for with five bunkers, and a lake, protecting the large green, which lies just 260 metres from back markers. Long hitters might like their chance of reaching the green from the tee, in the right conditions, but the shot must be very precise to avoid trouble. The club also features a licensed bar and café, an extensive practice putting green plus another green to chip to, two practice nets, a driving range. Whenever the club is open so too is the driving range, you will be pleased to know the balls are real (not flight reduced(, it’s grassed, accurately marked out and lessons are available. There is a fully-stocked pro shop that is open 7 days a week offering a full line of the latest golf equipment, clothing and accessories. 02.01.2022 Some good history has, and is, being preserved by the community, well done. Yankalilla is nestled in the Bungala River valley, below the Mount Lofty Ranges and on the main road from Adelaide to Cape Jervis and just 35 minutes from Bellevue B&B McLaren Vale The heritage trail starts at the eastern end of Yankalilla where the magnificent Bungala House stands stall. The house was built in the 1850's and 1860's by the Butterworths who operated a neighbouring flour mill.... Heading in to the centre of Yankalilla you pass the first of many antique and curio shops, the post office which has been rebuilt three times, and the Council Chambers. Like most towns the Hotel is one of the oldest buildings, and the Yankalilla Hotel is no different, albeit it has had a number of renovations since first being constructed in 1854. Christ Church Shrine of Our Lady of Yankalilla Yankalilla Historical Museum The Old Schoolhouse Former Ferguson’s Mill Agricultural Hall (cunningly set mid-way between both towns!) As these two country towns are so close together you can do them both! The 3km (one way) heritage trail through Yankalilla and Normanville. A trail through the towns shows the old historic buildings. The walk is easy to do and downhill one way .... and uphill back ! Lots of cafes to stop at also, spoilt for choice. If you want to try a different type of trail then maybe High Country Trails Normanville Horse Riding On The Beach is more your style, a lovely 1 hour walk/trot/ride.
